Assault rifles serve a very versatile and dynamic function in PUBG. As mentioned they are commonly found in every map in the game, with an assortment of different attachments to increase their efficiency. So becoming familiar with the weapon is a must for an aspiring PUBG player. At first, glance, learning how to utilize these weapons may seem pretty simple. Even for returning veterans of first-person shooters getting familiar with these weapons will certainly take some practice, even with prior history in the genre. This guide will provide some tips to adapt to the powerful weapon and use it at its most effective.
Players familiar with the first-person shooter genre are more than likely aware of the varying functions that a gun will serve in a match. Shotguns are for close range, Pistols are for short-range and finishing off weak enemies, sniper-rifles are for long-range, but how do we navigate what purpose Assault rifles serve? And the question is not an easy one to answer, but we will expand upon how Assault rifles can be used.
Assault rifles sort of fill this weird limbo within PUBG. They aren’t exactly good for long-range fights like sniper rifles are, but they also aren’t better than other weapons for close-range combat. So what do we make of these weapons? If they aren’t designed for long or close-range combat what is their purpose? And the answer is that they aren’t meant to fill both and some middle ground.
The ability of a solid weapon to both, adequately, fulfill a player’s major concerns is a blessing more than a curse. Rather than thinking of it as being inferior to the weapons that excel at certain ranges, think of it more like an all arounder type gun. It doesn’t have the major drawbacks of other weapons found with other weapons in the PUBG arsenal.
Unlike shotguns, Assault rifles can function as decent to extremely powerful mid to long-range weapons. Solidifying it as a much better weapon to rely on, even if it doesn’t excel at close-range as shotguns do. Similarly, Sniper rifles are only really useful for long to mid-range combat, using a sniper at close range is always a death sentence, unless your aim is spectacular. This is where assault rifles establish superiority over the Sniper, while it is better at long range, it doesn’t compare to the assault rifles utility.
Acknowledging the faults this weapon holds is important to understand its strengths. The assault rifles in the game are the Jacks of all trades but master of none, and that’s okay. It does a serviceable job in almost all facets of PUBG’s game types.
As mentioned before the Assault rifle is a player’s all-around useful tool. It is serviceable in close-range and in long-range fights. But to truly make use of this reality players must learn some key concepts to gain the most mileage from this weapon.
When engaging someone in a long-range fight it is important to either have a long or mid-range scope on your rifle. That way you can make accurate shots from the elongated distance rather than using a short-ranged scope. After finding this scope understand that you don’t always have to have the long-ranged sights on your weapon. Keeping it in your inventory space may seem like a waste but being able to switch to it quickly can give you an edge in a fight while not limiting your close-quarter combat. And when beginning a long-ranged encounter immediately switch to your single fire option on your rifle. This will mitigate any unnecessary recoil when firing multiple shots. It will also help players note the prevalent bullet drop feature in the game. Forcing them to adjust their aim if necessary. Taking all of these notes into account will help players utilize the multi-faceted style of the assault rifle more effectively. And increasing the amount of wins players are achieving by an exponential amount.
Engaging in a close-range battle is much easier to grasp. Simply put, adopting a spray and pray attitude can grant players some easy kills due to the full-auto and burst features on most assault rifles. Even without a proper sight attached to the gun players can fire from the hip and effectively take out a pesky enemy in no time. However, doing so can be a waste of precious ammunition and a death sentence for late-game fights. So good advice would be to always have a close to mid-range sight on your weapon to utilize in case an enemy manages to sneak up on you. And try your best to use positional advantage and aiming down your sight to take out the enemy more effectively. This will save players from using up all their ammo and provide a better loadout for late-game fights.
Being able to effectively switch between these two styles of play will make for an excellent PUBG player and truly separate a player from a novice one. Being able to utilize the most common weapon in the game will surely provide some exciting and satisfying wins over players who are unable to use its true potential.
