Everything Available On Disney+ At Launch

Disney+ will debut this year with a number of new shows and movies available at launch. The Walt Disney Company announced its hotly awaited streaming platform Disney+ to a flurry of headlines and excited fan responses. With the service set to launch in North America on November 12, with staggered releases internationally, the $6.99 a month ad-free platform seems guaranteed to be a huge hit. It may also present the first real competition that undisputed streaming giant Netflix has ever faced.

When Netflix got into making original programming, it benefitted greatly from being most people’s go-to platform for watching the stuff they already loved, and while Netflix’s subscriber numbers have risen and its own films and TV shows have gone great, by and large, they are still best known as the place to stream old episodes of Friends. That’s where their audience loyalty lies.

So, in that aspect, Disney has already won half the battle because they’re the home of some of the past century of Hollywood’s most beloved properties, even without the substantial acquisitions like Marvel Studios, Star Wars, and the recent Fox deal. Netflix has a head start in terms of sheer quantity of content, but Disney+ has already promised that by the end of their first year, they will house more than 500 movies and 7,500 episodes of TV, which is extremely impressive.

Not every show and movie owned by Disney will be immediately available in the Disney+ library due to various rights issues and licensing agreements still in place with other platforms, but the aim is for the streaming service to be the ultimate and completely comprehensive home of the company’s historic output.

Here is a more detailed look at what we know will be available on Disney+ on the day of launch, both new and old.

Arguably the most anticipated original Disney+ series of the lot, The Mandalorian represents the historic first step into live-action television for Star Wars (not including the ill-fated Star Wars Holiday Special or Ewok Adventure TV movies). With Jon Favreau (The Lion King) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) at the helm, the directors attached to the first season include Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi and actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). Set before the rise of the First Order and after the fall of the Galactic Empire, the series will follow a lone gunfighter “in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic”. The all-star cast includes Pedro Pascal in the lead, as well as Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, and none other than Werner Herzog. The Mandalorian will be available on Disney+ for its November 12th launch.

When the Disney Channel screened the TV movie High School Musical in 2006, few could have predicted how big a deal it would be. It became the most watched Disney Channel Original Movie upon its premiere, its soundtrack was the highest selling album of the year, it spawned two sequels (one of which got a theatrical release), and it helped to make Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens bona fide stars. The ten-episode scripted series that will premiere on Disney+ has been described as a meta take on the material, centering on a group of students who are performing their own production of High School Musical. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be available on Disney+ for its November 12th launch.

Disney got its start as a company making animated shorts and that tradition has continued throughout their many decades of business, winning them many Oscars and introducing future animation stars to the world. Disney+ will be home to many new animated shorts from the company: These include SparkShorts, the short films of Pixar, “designed to discover new storytellers and explore new storytelling techniques from across the studio”; and Forky Asks a Question, a series of shorts focusing on the newest star of the upcoming Toy Story 4. (Lamp Life, another Toy Story shorts series, this time focusing on the return of Bo Peep and filling in on where she’s been since Toy Story 2, will premiere at a later date).

The Good Place and Frozen star Kristen Bell will be the executive producer on this documentary about a group of former high school musical cast members who reunite to perform the shows they did as teenagers. Imagine High School Musical with a nostalgic twist. Encore! promises help from Broadway’s best and big performances of some musical classics. Encore! will be available on Disney+ for its November 12th launch.

The work of Disney’s Imagineers has helped to craft decades of the company’s most beloved and iconic theme park attractions. With Disneyland and its various theme park siblings launching into a new era of industry-wide domination thanks to the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, it makes sense that Disney+ would want to focus in on that work, if only for promotional purposes (it’s also a proud part of Disney’s history as Walt Disney himself would present television specials that promoted the park and his various enterprises, winning him a few Emmys along the way). This documentary promises to chronicle over 65 years of Walt Disney Imagineering, with new behind-the-scenes footage of Disney’s parks and interviews with the people who made them. The currently untitled documentary will be available on Disney+ for its November 12th launch.

The series, produced by Marvel New Media in partnership with MaggieVision Productions, will focus on the real-life young heroes making a difference in their towns and communities, with Marvel celebrating the good work they do. It’s another example of Marvel’s growing influence, not to mention how Disney+ will allow them to dominate outside of cinema. The series will be available to view at launch.

Beloved actor Jeff Goldblum has giddily embraced his meme status over the past few years, and now Disney+ is taking advantage of that with the wonderfully titled series The World According to Jeff Goldblum. The show will follow Goldblum as he goes full Bill Nye in explaining the wonders of science, history and the stories behind the familiar objects that fill our lives. The series will be available to watch on launch.

Disney continues its recent tradition of live-action remakes of animated classics, with this take on the 1955 film being the first exclusive to debut on the streaming service. Lady & the Tramp will be directed by Charlie Bean (The Lego Ninjago Movie) and has a screenplay by indie icon Andrew Bujalski (Support the Girls). The voice cast includes Thor: Ragnarok‘s Tessa Thompson as Lady and The Leftovers‘ Justin Theroux as Tramp. The dogs won’t be CGI here. It’s all real and highly trained canines in the main roles. Lady & the Tramp will premiere with the service’s launch.

Page 2 of 2: Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, The Simpsons, and the Rest of Disney’s Catalog

Disney+ will serve as the exclusive streaming home of The Walt Disney Company’s major releases, which has proven to be their primary selling point so far. The press release makes a point of noting that all the major releases of 2019 will be Disney+ exclusives, although it does not give specific dates for their arrival on the platform. The listed recent releases include: Captain Marvel, Dumbo, Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Frozen 2, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Interestingly, Disney’s press release did not state every film that will be available at launch on Disney+. Instead, they offered “a sampling of content”, which included some of the biggest name properties. Key to this was, of course, Disney and Pixar’s illustrious back-catalog of animated classics. Not every animated film was named, but that’s not to say they won’t eventually premiere or even do so on the launch day. Many of those films are still tied up in other streaming and distribution deals. The big animated films by Disney and Pixar listed on the press release are: 101 Dalmatians, A Bug’s Life, A Goofy Movie (and its sequel), Bambi, Big Hero Six, Cars, Fantasia, Finding Dory, Finding Nemo, Frozen, Fun and Fancy Free, Hercules, Inside Out, Lady and the Tramp, Lilo & Stitch, Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, Moana, Monsters University, the first volume of the Pixar Short Films Collection, Ratatouille, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Steamboat Willie, The Good Dinosaur, The Incredibles, The Prince & the Pauper, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, The Sword in the Stone, The Three Caballeros, Toy Story, Up, Wall-E, and Zootopia.

The Star Wars canon was always expected to be a crucial part of Disney+, although it is only with the Fox acquisition that Disney are able to offer the complete original trilogy since Fox still owned the distribution rights for  the recently retitled Star Wars: A New Hope. As the press release notes, the first seven Star Wars films will be available on launch, as will Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the entire animated series of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (including the revival season 7), but Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story are not currently listed.

Netflix losing the streaming rights to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly a loss that will sting for the platform. Disney+ promises “unprecedented access to the best content” from brands like Marvel, although the press release only lists Iron Man and Thor: The Dark World right now. It is hoped that by the end of their first year, Disney will have the full library.

RELATED: Everything We Know About Marvel’s Disney Plus Shows

In addition to Disney’s rich library of acquisitions and animated classics, Disney has plenty of live-action titles to show off on their streaming service. The Disney+ press release lists a handful of them: High School Musical, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Remember the Titans, The Parent Trap (the original version), The Princess Diaries, The Rocketeer, and Tron. Their live-action output also includes several documentaries, such as Born in China and this year’s Best Documentary Feature Oscar winner Free Solo (a National Geographic title that came with the Fox acquisition). Interestingly, not many Fox titles are listed here, although that is expected to change.

As part of their aim to get over 7,500 episodes of television on the platform within its first year, the TV output of Disney+ includes plenty of Disney Channel favorites, including Andi Mack, Boy Meets World, both versions of DuckTales, Goof Troop, Kim Possible, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Mickey Mouse Shorts, Raven’s Home, Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and That’s So Raven.

Another key feature of their TV output is National Geographic series: Amazing Planet, Brain Games, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, Dr. K’s Exotic Animals, Dr. Oakley Yukon Vet, Drain the Ocean, Earth Live, Great Migrations, Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things, Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue, The Incredible Dr. Pol, Unlikely Animal Friends, and Wicked Tuna. Fox programming features briefly in the press release too, most notably Malcolm in the Middle. But the real jewel in the crown is much bigger than that.

If Disney only needed one reason to move forward with the much-discussed acquisition of Fox, then having the exclusive streaming rights to every episode of The Simpsons would certainly be a pretty good one. FXX has been hosting the show’s streaming rights for a while now, with the network launching the occasion with a marathon of every episode ever made at the time. Given the show’s popularity, its immense influence, and the sheer joy of binge-watching it, this element could very well end up being the biggest selling point of Disney+ to cynics who aren’t all that invested in the studio’s own products.

DC Universe App Finally Comes to Xbox One and Is Available Now

The DC Universe app is rolling out on the Xbox One through April. Last year, DC launched their brand new streaming service. It hosts a wealth of DC content, including original TV shows such as Titans and Doom Patrol, digital comics, and a library of historic DC movies and TV series.

Over the last month, it’s become clear that DC is thoroughly invested in continuing to improve their service. The digital comics have always been a particular highlight, and at WonderCon DC revealed their entire library would shortly be available on DC Universe. New comics will be added into the archive exactly one year after their print publication date. This means that in addition to classic storylines such as Watchmen and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, subscribers will also be able to view more recent works, such as the whole of the 2016 DC Rebirth initiative.

In the latest development, DC has announced that in April the DC Universe app will be rolling out on Xbox One. A subscription can be activated online and accessed directly through an Xbox One console. According to Sam Ades, senior vice president and general manager of DC Digital Services, this was something the fans themselves had been asking for. “Our growing list of highly acclaimed original series, amazing library of shows and thousands of comics are now accessible to DC fans and Xbox users alike,” he promised.

Priced at $7.99 a month, or $74.99 annually, DC Universe is already available on iOS, Amazon Fire TV, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, and Roku. The streaming service has received rave reviews, and comic book fans are increasingly positive about it after the recent announcements. What’s more, original content such as Titans has been a hit, with third-party analytics suggesting the series just got more popular as it went on. DC Universe shows are consistently among the most in-demand superhero TV series.

Even as DC Universe expands across different platforms, though, international fans continue to wonder when it will become available outside the United States. Netflix and CBS All Access were streaming in the US for three years before expanding to Canada, their first international region, and Hulu is yet to reach international audiences at all. In September last year, DC editor Dan DiDio confirmed that a Canadian app was in testing, so hopefully it will be sooner rather than later in this case. At present, DC Universe originals are distributed internationally on Netflix, but that’s envisioned as a short-term solution, and DC has fans all over the world who are eager to access the app.

All Disney+ Streaming Content Will Be Available to Download Too

Disney’s new streaming platform Disney+ will allow users to watch TV shows and movies without even without an internet connection, as all the streaming content can also be downloaded. Disney+ will offer both legacy content from Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, and other branches of the company, as well as new original content like The Mandalorian, Falcon & Winter Soldier, and a live-action adaptation of Lady and the Tramp.

The market of streaming services has been getting increasingly competitive over the past few years. While Netflix still stands tall as the most popular distributor of streaming content, platforms like Hulu and Amazon Prime have been building up their libraries as well, and newer media platforms like DC Universe are also vying for attention. Then there are traditional TV networks adapting to the world of streaming with services like HBO NOW and CBS All Access.

Related: Captain Marvel Will Stream on Disney+ at Launch

Disney, however, has the major advantage of having a massive existing library of owned (rather than licensed) content that now includes all of 20th Century Fox’s assets – such as The Simpsons, all 30 seasons of which will be made available on Disney+. The streaming service will launch in North America on November 12, 2021 and then roll out worldwide, with a complete international rollout by 2021. But if the massive amount of content and the competitive price tag of $6.99 a month aren’t enough to tempt you by themselves, the promise of being able to download content just might.

This will most likely work in the same way as Apple Music, which allows users to download songs to the app so they can listen to music without an internet connection, but have to first be logged into an account with an active subscription. There is no download limit, so users will only be restricted by the amount of space available on their devices. Disney+ will be available through smart TVs, web browsers, mobiles, tablets, and game consoles.

The ability to download content and watch it offline can be a dealbreaker for users who have unreliable internet connections, or who enjoy watching TV shows and movies while travelling. While this is a major selling point for Disney+, it may have a knock-on impact on sales of physical media like DVDs and Blu-rays, especially since Disney+ will be available to watch in 4k.

Disney’s influence in Hollywood has grown enormously over the past decade, with Marvel and Star Wars movies and live-action remakes of Disney classics providing a steady stream of box office smash hits. We’re still a long way off from the launch of Disney+, but already it looks like the company could dominate the world of streaming entertainment as well.

The Simpsons Seasons 1-30 Available On Disney+ From Launch

Disney has announced that all 30 seasons of The Simpsons will be available on the Disney+ streaming service when it launches later this year. Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox earlier this year, it was only a matter of time before the company started utilizing Fox’s more popular properties for its streaming platform, and using The Simpsons to draw in subscribers seems like a smart move for the company.

The Simpsons premiered in 1989, and soon proved to be one of Fox’s most popular and profitable franchises, and it’s currently airing its 30th season. While Disney’s purchase of Fox allowed them to bring in even more popular Marvel characters into its Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are certainly other motivations for the company to make such a purchase. The Simpsons itself is worth quite a bit of money and, while it’s ratings aren’t as high as they were during its golden years, it’s still arguably one of the most popular animated shows on network television.

Related: Captain Marvel Will Stream on Disney+ at Launch

During a Walt Disney Studios’ investor meeting, the company announced that all 30 seasons of The Simpsons would be available when the Disney+ streaming service launches in November and will be the exclusive home of the show from that point on. It’s unclear how soon after airing season 31 will make its way to the streaming service and if the show would go beyond its 32nd season, which it has already been renewed for.

While it may bother some fans that The Simpsons will no longer be available on the FX app following its debut on Disney+, the plethora of other content available on the upcoming streaming network at launch should be enough to offset that (especially considering its relatively cheap $6.99 a month price). Unlike the FX app, it’ll also be ad-free, meaning there will be no more intrusive commercials during an annual The Simpsons binge. Regardless, this is one of the first big moves that Disney’s made to integrate Fox content into its own library, while also selling those who are unsure on the merits of Disney+.

It’s also not the only show to be available at Disney+’s launch. At the same meeting, Disney also announced that The Mandalorian TV series, which is set in the Star Wars universe, will be available at launch. All Disney, Pixar and Star Wars content will also appear on Disney+ when it debuts (as well as most Marvel content). Regardless of all of this content available when the streaming service goes live in November, there are still some fans out there who may believe that the streaming market is simply too crowded to justify paying for another service. However, Disney has done quite a bit during its investor meeting to try and justify its existence, and including The Simpsons at launch was a major part of that pitch.

Trippy Movies Available On Every Streaming Service

Whether you’re living in a state or country that has finally legalized recreational cannabis for the first time in history and happen to be looking for something to blow your mind even more than that joint you just rolled up. or you’re just looking to expand your mind with an amazing film; we’ll go through some of the trippiest movies that the major streaming services have available to watch.

RELATED: Netflix: 10 Best Movies And TV Shows Leaving In March

So whether you’re looking to explore the astral plane in a multi-layered dream or just trying to make your way through the multiverse, we’ll go through some of the best films to ever make you ask, “Wait. Whaaaaaaaaat?”

10 Inception (HBO)

While some fans have taken to calling this “Exposition” rather than Inception, that doesn’t change the fact that Christopher Nolan was exploring some pretty intense themes while also providing a steady flow of trippy effects. Inception is just a film about the way we dream and produce ideas, it’s also a film about the medium of film and how similar to our dreams it really is.

RELATED: Every Christopher Nolan Movie, Ranked

In Inception, Nolan explores, like many great films before this one, just what exactly the “real world” is and what it means that our dreams, if only for a brief moment, can become even more real than the world we wake up in.

9 I Heart Huckabees (HBO)

I Heart Huckabees a complicated film about a paranoid environmentalist and his path towards enlightenment. Albert, the aforementioned environmentalist, is convinced that the seemingly innocuous happenstances that regularly occur around him will lead him to the secrets of the universe.

So, when he hires a pair of existential private detectives (think Dirk Gently, but a lot less goofy) he hopes that they will be able to help him make sense of the universe by following him and the parts of his day he views to be hints from the universe. Like, why is he always bumping into that same person and where does the root of problems in his life lie?

8 Hard Candy (HBO)

This movie is a trip, but in a completely different way than most of the movies on this list. Hard Candy, starring Ellen Page as a young girl who lures pedophiles and criminal sex offenders into her a trap designed to mentally and physically break down those she ensnares.

Ellen Page’s character, Hayley, lures Patrick Wilson’s Jeff into a false sense of security in his own home before drugging him. What follows is a brutal and mind-bending adventure through a 14-year-old vigilante’s revenge fantasy. It can be incredibly gut-wrenching, but as Hayley might point out, it’s nothing Jeff didn’t have coming.

7 Cloud Atlas (Netflix)

Cloud Atlas is one of those films that demands a rewatch. There’s so much going on in the film; from the multiple timelines and the birthmarks hinting at a souls journey throughout time, space, and multiple bodies. Cloud Atlas is about the adventure the human soul goes through while on this planet, and how while the world may change, there are some aspects of the human soul that simply refuse to.

With an excellent performance from an ensemble cast, including Jim Sturgess, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and more, most of whom play multiple roles throughout the film; Cloud Atlas is certainly a film that will keep you talking long after the credits.

6 Being John Malkovich (HBO)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a famous celebrity? Maybe you’ve wondered what it’s like to have Kanye’s confidence, Christopher Nolan’s vision, or Jeff Bezos’ bank account. Being John Malkovich tries to answer exactly what it might be like to get inside the skull of one of your favorite celebrities.

RELATED: The ABC Murders Review: John Malkovich Offers A Darker Take On Hercule Poirot

When Craig Schwartz, a struggling puppeteer, gets a day job on the suggestion of his girlfriend, he finds a portal inside his new office building that leads directly inside the noggin of John Malchovich. But where does Craig’s body go? How does the portal work? And what does it mean that there is a physical like to John Malkovich’s consciousness? Who knows? But as Craig says to begin the film “Consciousness is a terrible curse. I Think. I feel. I suffer.”

5 Annihilation (Amazon Prime)

It’s a little difficult to talk about Annihilation without address how misleading the title is. We hear Annihilation, and imagine another film about the destruction of our beautiful planet; the end of all life. But Annihilation is about precisely the opposite of that old cliche. Annihilation is about a strange abundance of life, an explosion of unencumbered life, growth, and experimentation.

How do we, as humans, deal with a force of life far greater than our own? Not only will the plot have you questioning everything you thought you knew about the film, but the film is filled with beautiful effects and the creatures that inhabit “The Shimmer”, as the area is called in the film.

4 Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (Netflix)

While we live in an age where we can simply block someone on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, what if we could take it even further? Don’t want to see, think, or feel anything related to your ex? No problem, just erase him from your memories and we’ll let all of your friends know that you know longer carry any conscious memory of him. Or at least that what Lacuna Inc. promises Clementine after a big fight with her boyfriend Joel in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

RELATED: Olaf VS Olaf: A Comparison Of Neil Patrick Harris’ Version Of Count Olaf To Jim Carrey’s

When Joel finds out what Clementine has does he’s just as eager to go through with the procedure. What follows is a bittersweet and thoughtful meditation on the old saying “It’s better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all.”

3 Requiem For A Dream (Hulu)

Watching Requiem For A Dream is a little bit like attending one of those luaus in any movie where someone goes to Hawaii. If the ravenous leather-skinned tourists tearing apart the juicy flesh of a pig were the multiple threads of the film’s plot, and the unlucky pig (stuck, skewered, roasted, and torn apart morsel by delectable morsel) was your soul. Requiem For A Dream may as well have been titled “All The Bad Drug Trips You Never Wanted To Have.”

It’s the heartbreaking story of three addicts and the spiraling pit of oblivion they walk down hand in hand (and one of their mothers, whose story probably one the most heartbreaking things ever put to screen). If you can manage the abysmal lows you’ll reach after the film concludes, you’ll certainly see why it’s not a film many people watch more than once.

2 John Dies At The End (Hulu)

“You’re going to die, Arnie. Someday you will face that moment. And at that moment you will face either complete nonexistence or you will face something even stranger.” But honestly, you don’t need to die to experience the absurd when the strange when movies like John Dies At The End exist.

This film is filled with some much absurdity, from psychedelic drugs made by alternate reality biological supercomputer named Korrok to demons made of frozen meats and even a dog named Bark Lee. Plus, if you solve the riddle at the beginning of this film it will reveal the awful secret of the universe. Assuming you don’t go mad in the attempt. And at the end of the day, what more could you really ask for from a film?

1 Mr. Nobody (Netflix)

Much in the way that Annihilation was about life refusing to make a choice and instead, spreading out in every direction, throughout realities, Mr. Nobody is about saying yes to every possible instance of life throughout dimensions. What if you never had to make a choice? What if you could see, feel, and live across every dimension simultaneously? What kind of lessons do you think you’d have learned while looking back on your lives as an older version of yourself? Did you love often enough and openly enough? Were you honest and kind? Would you have made anything happen differently?

These aren’t the questions that Mr. Nobody is trying to answer. They’re merely among some of the questions Mr. Nobody tries to get the audience to ask.

Red Dead Online is Now Available for Everyone

Update: Red Dead Online is now available for all players. Original article follows.

Players who have been impatiently waiting for Rockstar to roll out the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 are in luck: the Red Dead Online beta test begins tomorrow. The rollout of the beta will last until the end of the week, allowing many players a chance to sample online Red Dead Online gameplay.

Red Dead Redemption 2 released in October and serves as a prequel to the previous title in the franchise. In Red Dead Redemption 2, players take on the role of Arthur Morgan, a veteran of the Van der Linde gang, the same group that had James Marston, the protagonist of the first game, as a member. Arthur must learn how to survive in a world that has become increasingly civilized since the Wild West isn’t as wild as it used to be. Arthur’s journey takes him across five fictitious states, where he does everything from riding horses, hunting, shooting enemies and living life as an outlaw in a world growing more hostile to his kind.

One aspect of the game missing from its launch was the online component. According to The Verge, Rockstar recently announced that Red Dead Online would begin on Tuesday, Nov. 27 for those who purchased the “Ultimate Edition” of the game. Anyone who bought and played the game during its initial release week will have access to the beta on Thursday, Nov. 29. Everyone else gets access to the online beta on Friday, Nov. 30. The online component is free to play to everyone who bought the game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Rockstar has not released many details about what online play entails, although it did issue the following statement with its announcement:

With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style, and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.

Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.

This announcement comes after Take-Two Interactive confirmed that Rockstar would release the online beta in late November. Now that time has come, giving Red Dead Redemption fans a chance to explore the world of Red Dead Online with other players.

In the meantime, sales for the title remain strong. The game has shipped at least 17 million copies since its release. With both fans and critics overwhelmingly praising the title, the addition of the online component of the game should send even more copies flying off of shelves, especially with the holidays coming up, as well as keep Red Dead Redemption 2 players interested in the game for years to come.

Black Ops 4 Beginners Guide: How to Play (& Win) in Zombies Mode

The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 brings with it a variety of different gameplay options for players. Although plenty of eyes seem to be on the title’s battle royale mode, Blackout, the traditional multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch are still available. Also returning is the franchise’s Zombies game mode, this time with more options than ever before.

Indeed, Zombies is something of a different beast this time around. The mode comes complete with three maps, with two of them on the expansive side to boot. As such, new players might find it a little bit daunting, particularly given the intricacies of the game mode in comparison to some of the more simplistic elements of Call of Duty.

Related: Black Ops 4 Blackout Guide: Pro Tips For Battle Royale Beginners

Thankfully, new players can get a head start thanks to this guide. Read on to learn how to play Zombies mode, as well as some good strategies to help get that first win in what can be a tense and difficult part of Call of Duty.

What’s New In Zombies Mode?

This time around, Zombies is huge, with three different scenarios to choose from. Two of these revolve around Scarlett Rhodes and her band of misfits, with Voyage of Despair taking place aboard an RMS Titanic that had to handle a zombie threat alongside hitting an iceberg, while IX takes the team back in time to face gladiatorial combat in a Roman coliseum. Alongside this, there’s also the option to play Blood of the Dead, with the return of Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai.

Within that, the core gameplay loop remains the same. Survive waves of the zombie horde, unlocking areas of the map as and when the points are available, as the fight gets progressively tougher and tougher. This time around, though, it’s fair to say that the levels feel a little more maze-like and expansive, so make sure to be aware of the surroundings at all times to stop from getting stuck in a bottleneck.

Prioritize Your Points

As always, using points effectively is extremely important in Zombies. First and foremost, opening up areas of the map is a given, but more pressing is how the player uses their points towards perks and weapons. Although in early waves things like shotguns and pistols are all well and good, it’s important to aim to get weapons that have a faster fire rate and (most importantly) a faster reload rate as the game progresses. As such, look to weapons like the Spitfire or GKS to be most effective.

It’s also very important to improve the power of weapons as the game goes on. The most obvious way to do this is to keep returning to the Pack-a-Punch Machines once available, which give a 25% boost with each use. This does come at a considerable cost of 2,500 points per use, but it’s an undeniable way to get that firepower up.

Keep Moving

Staying static for too long in Zombies this time around is a recipe for disaster, as there is always the very real threat of being overrun by the horde. Whereas previous games could work with players cementing a position with a strong defensive line, at least for early portions of the game it’s recommended to keep moving. Not only does it avoid the issue of getting stuck in one place, but it also will keep players refreshed when it comes to where the different unlock options are in the map.

Keeping space from zombies is important for reasons other than this, too. Should one member of the team fall, they’ll have to be revived, and with a slightly longer revive time in Black Ops 4 it’s more vital than ever to have enough room to revive a teammate without having chunks taken out by an unseen zombie. This is particularly true when it comes to those special zombies that attack, so always keep an eye out.

Use Your Perks

In Black Ops 4‘s Zombies mode, players are able to use class customization for the first time. This isn’t just there for show, either, as a good grasp of what perks are available and how to use them can make the difference between success and failure. What’s more, the perks that can be chosen can actually work well for a variety of different play styles.

Those who want both power and speed could choose the likes of Deadshot Dealer, which automatically targets the zombie’s head when aiming down the sights, as well as Stamin-Up for a permanent boost to movement speed. Meanwhile, the frost explosion created by Winter’s Wail and the increased ammunition of Bandolier Bandit work well for those whose last stand may come from a more secure position. In essence, it comes down to how an individual best plays the game, and it’s good to have a variety of perks in the team to make the most of these options.

Work Together

As always, teamwork is the key to having an easier run of things in Zombies. Although it’s possible to play the game solo, this is always a challenge, and to help with this there are now bots to play with. Even so, it’s best to play with other human players, and as such taking on the game as a team of four is recommended.

It’s not just a matter of getting other human beings involved in the zombie slaughter, however. Working together cooperatively is key; don’t stray too far from one another, watch out for any fallen that need reviving, and potentially coordinate the perks used to make sure that everyone has bases covered for any eventuality. That way, the team should be set for what the game throws at them.

With these tips in mind, players should now have a solid framework to build on to get through the game’s Zombies mode. Whether taking a trip back in time to arena combat or trying to fight off zombified versions of Jack and Rose, Zombies is always a challenge for players, but with this guidance in mind players should be able to have a fighting chance of beating the supernatural threat.

Wonder Woman Does The Unthinkable To Save DC’s Magic

Warning: SPOILERS For Wonder Woman #56

The latest chapter of The Witching Hour crossover has seen Wonder Woman and her allies in Justice League Dark joining forces with her most powerful enemy – the sorceress Circe. Given Circe’s long-standing grudge against the Amazons and Diana, it would take extraordinary circumstances for her to put aside her legendary spite for a common goal.  Of course with magic itself dying in DC’s Universe, describing the current circumstances as “extraordinary” is putting things lightly.

Based on the character from Greek mythology, the DC Comics version of Circe first appeared in Wonder Woman #37 in 1949. The precise reasons for Circe’s hatred of The Amazons and Wonder Woman have changed several times over the years, but the most common reasons are that The Amazons were responsible for imprisoning Circe for her crimes against humanity and that a prophecy predicted that Circe’s doom would be brought about by the Amazon princess. Though she first appeared during the Golden Age of Comics, it was not until George Perez’s revamp of Wonder Woman in 1987 that Circe was redeveloped into a major player in Princess Diana’s Rogues’ Gallery. It is a position of dishonor she has held ever since.

The first chapter of The Witching Hour revealed that Wonder Woman was a conduit for hereto unknown magic powers – the result of her having been branded as a child by followers of Hectate, the Ancient Greek goddess of Magic. With Zatanna having discovered the meaning of the magical brand, Justice League Dark was able to start seeking answers as to what was happening to Wonder Woman and why.

This led them to Aeaea – the island home of Circe, according to The Odyssey. It was hoped that Circe, who drew her powers from a connection to Hectate, might know something of what was going on and be willing to bargain for that knowledge.

Though she was hostile at first, Circe was mollified the moment she saw what she called “the witchmark” on Diana’s forehead. Circe went on to explain the history of Hectate and how she was truly a power far older than the Olympian gods. The first wizards tried to tap Hectate’s power for their own uses unsuccessfully, caging a far more evil source of power that would come to slowly infect the world, and Hectate herself, with darkness.

This led Hectate to take the majority of her power and split it among five mortal vessels, The Witchmarked, who would hold Hectate’s pure and unsullied essence until a time when the magic of the rising darkness had begun to fade. Then Hectate would reclaim her power to defeat it, once and for all. As each of The Witchmarked died, the followers of Hectate would find another woman to hold Hectate’s power, passing her energy down from generation to generation.

The problem, Circe reveals, is that the passing years have corrupted Hectate’s mind and she is now a being born of spite and hatred rather than love and light and it was that desire for revenge that made Circe into a perfect avatar for Hectate’s power. The practical upshot is that while Hectate may be capable of fighting the rising darkness, she will forever destroy magic as it is known on Earth, with no magical power but her’s existing. This leaves Justice League Dark with few good options, as Wonder Woman seems doomed to die no matter what and the best option involves all magic being under the control of a single vengeful goddess. Of course all this assumes that Circe is telling the truth and this isn’t part of her own plan for revenge on Diana.

Wonder Woman #56 is now available from DC Comics.

Crazy Rich Asians Is Highest-Grossing Rom-Com This Decade (So Far)

Wildly successful romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians looks to be leader of the pack in box office receipts for the decade. It’s been roughly two months in theaters since its mid-August release, and the runaway hit adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s best-selling book has handily outsold every other rom-com in the 2010s, and yet remains in theaters at time of this writing.

Crazy Rich Asians broke early ticket sales records from its premiere, dominating the box office for three straight weekends with no signs of slowing down. The film stars Constance Wu ( Fresh Off the Boat ) in the leading role, alongside veteran Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Star Trek: Discovery) and rising star Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8), among others. Directed by filmmaker Jon M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians’ immediate success followed positive early buzz, making its opening weekend the biggest rom-com opening since 2015’s Trainwreck.

That early attention simply did not waver, and the film has seen eight solid weekends of consistent sales thus far, placing in top 10 tickets sold in the first weekend of October. That momentum has seemingly secured its legacy, and, according to Box Office Mojo (via Screen Crush), Crazy Rich Asians as the sixth-highest grossing romantic-comedy of all-time at the domestic box office, with over $169 million in sales, which also makes it the highest grossing rom-com of the decade.

This news makes reports of the imminent sequel, which arrived a mere week after opening weekend, seem particularly wise on the part of Warner Bros. Titled China Rich Girlfriend, the sequel is based on the follow-up novel of the same name, and will push the story presented in the original forward. Limited information about the sequel is available at present – and there’s considerable speculation as to plot details when weighing the changes made in the Crazy Rich Asians adaptation – but the director and writers are expected to return.

Aside from its profitable reign in theaters, Crazy Rich Asians was notable as the first Hollywood studio film with primarily Asian-American leads since 1993’s award-winning The Joy Luck Club. News of the sequel aside, this distinction may have spearheaded a new trend, and Warner Bros./New Line’s recently-acquired Singles Day may represent increased trust being placed in Asian-American actors and actresses to draw audiences to theaters.

For now, Crazy Rich Asians continues its run in theaters across the country, and a mere $7 million more will see it crack the top five romantic comedies and outsell 1998’s There’s Something About Mary.

Update: Corrected the filmography of Constance Wu.

10 Most Powerful Weapons In Fortnite (And 10 That Are Completely Worthless)

The multi-platform game Fortnite has taken the world by storm. Upon its release in 2017, it quickly became the most popular game across the masses. The game is free to play, though additional “skins” can be purchased, using the game’s currency “V-bucks,” which of course, must be purchased using real money. The weapons in the game, however, are 100% free.

Fortnite boasts a vast number of weapons that can all be found throughout the game’s various locations. Players can search chests and vending machines, inside of which loot can be found. Amongst this loot, players will find weapons, healing jugs, and other items. The contents of loot chests are a surprise each time. The location of these chests are fixed, however, and only a certain number will appear at a time.

There is yet another way to acquire items, however, which will cause other players to growl in frustration. In the game , players battle against each other, and the victor can gain all of the loot from those they defeat. Loot only lasts for that existing game, as each player starts over at zero after each match. Players also keep their eyes out for floor loot, llamas, and supply drops. The llamas look like a pinata from a birthday party. Destroying these will also produce various sought-after items. Supply drops contain a large amount of loot, and float in via a hot air balloon box.

While some loot chests include powerful items and weapons, others should be ignored, as they might contain some of these utterly useless weapons.

Here’s a list of the 10 Most Powerful Weapons In Fortnite (And 10 That Are Worthless).

21 Powerful: SCAR (Legendary)

Most Fortnite players know this Legendary Assault Rifle as SCAR and are eager to obtain it. SCAR stands for Special Combat Assault Rifle. This variant of the assault rifle packs a punch, as it rakes out 198 damage per second and has a 30-round magazine. It is the perfect weapon for medium range battles.

This assault rifle has great precision and can fire 5.5 rounds per second. Because of this, it is the main choice for every player’s arsenal.

This favorite weapon can be found in vending machines, floor loot, chests, and supply drops. Players have a 30.8% chance of getting it in a supply drop. It is based on the Belgian assault/battle rifle Fabrique Nationale SCAR, which was introduced in 2009.

20 Worthless: Guided Missile (Epic)

The guided missile was vaulted in season 3 following complaints of being too overpowered. However, it was re-released in the season 5.10 update with some changes. These alterations included reduced movement skill, reduced turn radius, and reduced damage. Using it makes players vulnerable to attacks from opponents, as you must be out in the open to fire it.

It delivers 74 damage to health and 400 damage to structures. We’re not saying that this weapon doesn’t get the job done, it just isn’t amongst the best weapons. The Epic Guided Missile is fun to use to destroy structures but that’s about it, as it is a risky weapon to use. Guided missiles can be found in chests and supply drops.

19 Powerful: Heavy Shotgun (Legendary)

The Legendary Heavy Shotgun is a heavier version of the Tactical Shotgun. It also has a longer range and an increased firing rate, with its overall damage per second being 77. With a higher range, it is great for mid to late gameplay when players are moving away from close-quarter contact. If you come across a Legendary Heavy Shotgun, you should definitely pick it up, as its powerful punch can help lead to victory.

This shotgun has a slight resemblance to the Franchi SPAS-12, which is an Italian manufactured shotgun. The Legendary Heavy Shotgun can be found in chests and supply drops. Players have a 50% chance of finding it in supply drops and only a 12.4% chance of finding it in chests.

18 Worthless: Pistol

This small firearm has two variants: Common and Uncommon. Most players will pass up this gun when they come across it or replace it quickly with something stronger. The damage it delivers is not the greatest, with 23-24 health and 23-24 structural damage. It does, however, have a 16-round magazine and a firing rate of 6.75 per second.

In close combat, it will get the job done, but be careful if you decide to go up against an opponent with a shotgun.

Using this firearm over long distances is a bad idea and a waste of time.  Starting out the match with this weapon gives players at least some fighting ability. Pistols are only found in floor loot.

17 Powerful: Compact SMG (Legendary)

While there are multiple versions of submachine guns in Fortnite, the Legendary Compact Submachine Gun delivers the most damage to structures and opponents at 22 and 21, respectively. It has a fire rate of 10 rounds per second and a magazine size of 40, with a reload time of 2.97 seconds. It also boasts 210 damage per second.

The Legendary Compact Submachine Gun is definitely a weapon that players want in their arsenal, so be sure not to pass it up. This Fortnite weapon was inspired by the FN P90, a Belgium made submachine gun that was created in 1990. It can be found in chests, floor loot, and supply drops.

16 Worthless: Scoped Assault Rifle

The Scoped Assault Rifle in Fortnite has two different variations: Rare and Epic. This weapon delivers a mere 23-24 health damage and 25-26 structural damage, respectively. One good thing that the Scoped Assault Rifle has going for it, though, is its pinpoint accuracy, which makes it easier to use than some other weapons.

The rifle has a 3.5 round per-second firing rate. We’re not saying that this rifle is not worth picking up, but it should be replaced by a more powerful weapon the first chance you get. It can be found in chests, floor loot, and supply drops. This Fortnite weapon is loosely inspired by the AK-12, H&K 416, and the H&K G36C, combining an assault rifle with a sniper rifle.

15 Powerful: Grenade Launcher (Legendary)

The Legendary Grenade Launcher is the perfect choice for destroying structures, as it has a whopping 410 damage. It fires rockets from its 6 round magazine and has a reload time of 2.17 seconds. Damage to opponents is 110. This weapon is great to use against another players’ structures, which can lead to their elimination if they happen to be located nearby.

To use it efficiently, players must aim higher than their target to compensate for the arc trajectory.

Players should also avoid using in small areas, as the grenades can bounce back off of a surface before exploding. This weapon is inspired by the Mikor MGL that originated in South Africa in 1981. It can be found in chests and supply drops.

14 Worthless: Burst Assault Rifle (Common)

The Burst Assault Rifle has five different variations: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The Common Burst Assault Rifle deals out 27 health damage and 81 structural damage. It does have a 30-round magazine with a 1.75 rounds per second firing rate, however.

Bullets are fired in bursts of 3 at a time. The rifle has a 2.9 second reload time. The Burst Assault Rifle is best used in medium range combat. It’s better to avoid using this rifle against far opponents, as it is not very effective. It can be found in chests, and floor loot.  The legendary version of this rifle can also be found in supply drops, as well as in chests and floor loot.

13 Powerful: Heavy Sniper (Legendary)

Delivering 51.81 damage per second to health and 1100 to structures, the Legendary Heavy Sniper Rifle is a devastating weapon. The only downside is the long reload time, as it takes 4.05 seconds each time. Compared to other sniper rifles in the game, it has less of a bullet drop. So it’s important to take this into account when aiming at targets.

Its long range ability makes it the perfect weapon to use against unsuspecting opponents at far distances. With the Legendary Heavy Sniper, players should find a location with a great vantage point like a tower. However, be sure to have good cover, since reloading takes a while. This weapon closely resembles the Barrett M82 Anti-Material Rifle, which was standardized by the U.S. military as the M107. It can be found in floor loot, chests, supply drops, and vending machines.

12 Worthless: Minigun

The Minigun may look like a firearm that packs a punch, but looks can be deceiving. The Minigun has two variations: Epic and Legendary. However, it the gun is often overlooked since it lacks power. Its health damage comes in at 18-19, while its structural damage is 32-33. It has a high fire rate at 12-rounds per second, which makes it good for destroying structures. Upon pulling the trigger of this machine gun, there is a short delay before it begins to fire.

This delay can be dangerous, however, especially if you’re facing off against opponents whose weapons aren’t as delayed.

Because of this, it’s better to replace it with a more powerful weapon the first chance you get. The Minigun can be found in chests and supply drops.

11  6. Powerful: RPG (Legendary)

This explosive weapon deals out a devastating amount of damage. It can deal out 413 damage to structures and 121 to opponents. The Legendary RPG also has a very large range, which makes it a great choice for taking out bases.

Surprisingly, players can also ride on the rockets and some have even used them to cross the entire map. In order to do this, multiple rockets must be fired for the continuous ride. This, however, is not the easiest thing to do. The Legendary RPG can be found in chests and supply drops. The real-life inspiration for this Fortnite weapon is the RPG-7. RPG is commonly known to stand for Rocket-Propelled Grenade.

10 Worthless: Dual Pistols

The Dual Pistols comes in two variations: Rare and Epic. Considered a step above the Pistol, the Dual Pistols is considered as a 2 round burst weapon. Players should make sure that they take time to aim when using the Dual Pistols, however, as this isn’t always the easiest thing to do.

The Dual Pistols deliver a health damage of 41 for the Rare variation and 43 for the Epic variation. Because of this, it is one of the most powerful pistols. However, it doesn’t stand up against many other weapons. Like other pistols, if this is the only weapon available, you should definitely pick it up, as it will deliver more damage than the pickaxe. The Dual Pistols can be found in chests and floor loot, though players are most likely to find it in chests.

9 Powerful: Double Barrel Shotgun (Legendary)

This Fortnite weapon comes as both Epic and Legendary variants. However, the Legendary version is much better. The Legendary Double Barrel Shotgun is great for close range battle, as it delivers 228 damage per second to health and 90 to structures.

Though it is not ideal for long range use, it packs a punch in close quarters.

If opponents put some distance between themselves and the business end of this shotgun, it will yield very little damage. It is, however, capable of delivering two shots rapidly. The Legendary Double Barrel Shotgun is sure to take down any enemies who are unlucky enough to come face-to-face against it. The Legendary Double Barrel Shotgun can be found in chests, floor loot, and supply drops.

8 Worthless: Stink Bomb

This nose hair-burning explosive releases a stinky gas cloud upon detonation. The gas appears as a yellow cloud and lasts about nine seconds. The Stink Bomb deals out 5 health damage every half-second and it can even bypass shields. Players that throw this unpleasant explosive must be careful, though, as they can also take damage from it. Teammates, however, will not suffer any damage from the Stink Bomb.

The Stink Bomb resembles real-life mustard gas or tear gas. It can be found in chests, floor loot, supply drops, and llamas. Though it can be dangerous, the Stink Bomb isn’t as threatening as many players assume. Because of this, it should be replaced as soon as players find a more powerful weapon.

7 Powerful: Damage Trap

Unlike other items on this list, the Damage Trap is a trap, and therefore is not a firearm. The Damage Trap can be placed on any surface that accepts traps. Players are able to place it on ceilings, floors, and even walls. It delivers 150 of damage to players’ health.

The Damage Trap is typically set and then left for unsuspecting and unfortunate players to come across. However, it can also be used by placing it down after trapping a player, so that they have no way to avoid it. Fortnite has had other traps in the past, but most of those have been vaulted. This uncommon weapon can be found in floor loot and supply llamas.

6 Worthless: Hand Cannon

Another pistol to make our list is the Hand Cannon, which has two variations: Epic and Legendary. While it can be useful against medium and long range targets, it is difficult to use in close range combat.

It also has a low fire rate of 0.8 rounds per second and, unfortunately, it isn’t very accurate.

However, if a player is lucky enough to land a shot on their target at close range, it will most likely get the job done. While it does deal out 60-62.4 health damage and 79-83 structural damage, it’s definitely worth replacing with a more powerful weapon later in the game. The Hand Cannon can be found in chests and floor loot.

5 Powerful: Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle (Legendary)

The Legendary Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle packs a heavy punch with its 15-round magazine. It has a 2.07 second reload time, which could be worse. It can also deliver 66.6 damage per second.

With the thermal scope, players have the ability to see chests, supply drops, llamas, and even enemy heat signatures. This makes the Legendary Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle a great scouting tool. Players would be crazy to pass this up if they came across it. Even without its thermal abilities, it is still a great weapon to have in any arsenal. It can be found in chests, supply drops, and floor loot. However, players have the highest chance at finding this weapon in a supply drop. It was inspired by an AR15 assault rifle.

4 Worthless: Tactical Shotgun

Fortnite has three variations of the Tactical Shotgun: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. The Common version has the worst reload time of the three at 6.3 seconds. It delivers only 67 health damage and 50 structural damage.

In close quarters, it can be useful to suppress an enemy. However, it does not have the quickest of fire rates, with its rate stuck at 1.5 rounds per second. Out of all of the shotguns available in the game, the Tactical deals out the least amount of damage. However, it is better than some of the other weapons at close range, like the pistol or suppressed pistol. The Tactical Shotgun can be found primarily in floor loot.

3 Powerful: Heavy Sniper Rifle (Epic)

A tier down from its Legendary counterpart, the Epic Heavy Sniper Rifle deals 150 damage to health and 1050 damage to structures. Its reload time is a little long at 4.275 seconds, but it makes up for it in destruction.

Released during August 15th’s update, the Epic Heavy Sniper Rifle quickly became a fan-favorite with players who quickly began to experiment with the best situations for its use. Many players choose to carry two of these at once so that they can quickly switch between the two to deliver the most damage. While it may not have a quick fire rate at 0.33 rounds per second, it makes up for it in damage. It can be found in chests, floor loot, and supply drops. Like the Legendary version, it resembles the real-life Barrett M82.

2 Worthless: Submachine Gun

Fortnite offers three variations of a Submachine Gun: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. However, none of these are very powerful weapons. Both the health and structural damage of the three different types ranges from 17-19.  It does have a fire rate of 12 rounds per second, though, making it good for close to medium range combat.

Its magazine has a capacity of 30 rounds, which makes up for the low amount of damage that it deals out. It can get the job done, but overall, it is less powerful than a large number of the weapons offered in the game. It may look awesome, but it is definitely lacking. The Submachine Guns can be found in chests, floor loot, and sometimes in supply drops.

1 BONUS: Quad Launcher (Coming Soon)

According to an in-game notification, this long-awaited weapon will be making its debut in Fortnite very soon. In the notification, this weapon is said to “quickly fire up to 4 rockets to blanket an area with explosive damage.”

The Quad Launcher is a shoulder mounted rocket launcher and it is already building up a reputation, as many fans are excited for its introduction into the game. Players will have to wait to find out exactly how much health and structure damage this new weapon will deliver, though, as many details are still unknown. One thing is for sure, though: this anticipated rocket launcher will definitely be something to write home about.

Are there any other powerful or worthless Fortnite weapons that we missed? Let us know in the comments!
