Real Housewives of New York’s Barbara Kavovit is Leaving Show

Advertisements

The Real Housewives of New York‘s Barbara Kavovit is officially leaving the show after appearing as a supporting character on the latest season. She was a close friend of star Luann de Lesseps before joining the cast.

Fans met Kavovit on Season 11 of The Real Housewives of New York, during which time she was introduced as a good friend of de Lesseps, who she’d supported following her arrest at the end of 2017. Despite being close with de Lesseps, Kavovit never managed to mesh with the other women on the show. She felt like an outcast when she attended group trips with the cast this past season, and even felt abandoned by de Lesseps, who was wrapped up in her burgeoning cabaret career. While she didn’t make a splash, and viewers didn’t expect her to be given a golden apple (which main cast members hold in the opener of the show), it was a shock when she revealed she wouldn’t be returning to the series at all.

Kavovit posted a photo to Instagram, captioning it, “Home Sweet Home #Hamptons What are ya’ll up to this #saturday?” One of her followers asked her outright in the comments if she was going to be returning to Real Housewives of New York, to which Kavovit replied, “Don’t think so love.” Her response made it sound like it was more of the network’s decision, not hers. A lot of her fans expressed their disappointment with Bravo’s choice, saying they felt Kavovit was cut from the show too soon, before she was really given a proper chance to find her place.

One follower commented, “Oh noooooo!! Barbara we love you. I wish you nothing but the best. You would be a awesome friend. But please come back.” Another fan said the other women on the show weren’t very welcoming to Kavovit and that it wasn’t her fault. Another commented that all Real Housewives newbies have a hard time warming up to the rest of the cast at first, and that Kavovit deserved another season to prove herself.

Unfortunately, some Real Housewives of New York stars disagreed, with Ramona Singer saying Kavovit didn’t “gel” with the rest of them. It’s unclear if there will be another “friend” supporting character on the show in Season 12, airing next year. But if there is, hopefully they have an easier time fitting in with these over-the-top women than Kavovit did.

Real Housewives’ Kelly Dodd Splits with Boyfriend Brian Reagan

Advertisements

The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Kelly Dodd has officially split with her boyfriend, Brian Reagan. It hasn’t been an easy ride for the celebrity housewife, having to defend vicious rumors – and now a public breakup is sure to stir up drama for the new season.

Dodd had dated her fair share of men while appearing on multiple seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County. The famous housewife divorced Michael Dodd in 2017, and the most recent man she had been linked to was Dr. Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon in California. The couple met back in 2018, and he debuted as her boyfriend in the season 14 premiere. The couple did take a quick break at the beginning of July, but seemed to reconcile rather quickly.

According to US Weekly, Dodd broke up with Reagan after only six months of dating, inundating her social media followers with updates and stories. The breakup occurred on August 15, and Dodd took the end of another relationship very well. She implied the breakup had to do with the doctor not taking her side in an argument. Dodd, who became a main member due to her hot-headed behavior on The Real Housewives of Orange County, ranted via her Instagram stories saying this would be the last time she would not be taken seriously, calling him an “a**hole.”

The housewife continued her breakup celebration by singing “Another One Bites the Dust” with her girlfriends laughing in the background. Her harsh attitude rubbed fans the wrong way, especially after seeing Reagan giving Dodd diamond earrings on the premiere episode. In the same episode, Dodd had also said that she loved the plastic surgeon very much, but the distance became too hard. Reagan worked and lived in San Diego, often commuting for their relationship. Dodd also touched on the fact that her ex-boyfriend could not handle the drama that came with being a spouse of a Bravo housewife. It seemed the false stories about Dodd’s alleged cocaine addiction embarrassed the plastic surgeon as well.

Ultimately, Dodd should have no trouble finding herself a new love interest. While false rumors and arguing women come with the territory of being a cast member on The Real Housewives of Orange County, hopefully her next beau will be better equipped to handle the pressure. There is still a lot to come on the new season, with even more rumors being spread, potentially causing even more long-standing friendships to end.

Desperate Housewives: Every Season Ranked | ScreenRant

Advertisements

Desperate Housewives took television by storm, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon when it premiered back in 2004. Focusing on the lives of the titular suburban women, the dramedy ran on ABC for eight seasons and launched (or relaunched) the careers of Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria. Aside from the balancing of comedic and more dramatic elements, the series had a season-long Twin Peaksesque mystery to unravel as well.

RELATED: Desperate Housewives: Where Are They Now?

The women of Desperate Housewives may not have been perfect, but they were undeniably relatable. Regardless of their struggles over the years, these Wisteria Lane residents will always be fondly remembered by fans. Here’s how the seasons stack up.

8 Season 7

Advertisements

Although this season gets points for bringing Vanessa Williams’ delightful Renee Perry to the Lane, it’s still the weakest of the bunch. The return of Paul Young, with his creepy wife in tow, led to one of the show’s blandest mysteries and the appearance of Gabby’s stepfather seemed to come out of nowhere. Also, did anyone really need more drama between Paul and Felicia?

RELATED: Twin Peaks: The 5 Best Fan Theories (& 5 Worst)

There was also the baby swap plot, leading to Gabby’s strange doll obsession, and Bree’s relationship with Keith – which few viewers were really invested in – and Chuck. Plus, Tom and Lynette separated and though that wound up being one of Season 8’s most engaging stories, it’s still unforgivable.

7 Season 8

A definite improvement on the previous year, Season 8 still couldn’t match the quality of the show’s earlier seasons. Susan’s guilt over Alejandro’s murder made her quite unlikeable. Come on, the guy was a child molester and she wasn’t even the one who killed him! However, Bree’s murder trial was one of the season’s most affecting plotlines and gave one final shining moment to the terminally ill Karen McCluskey.

RELATED: The OC: 5 Best Episodes (& 5 Worst)

Ben was a fine addition to the show, despite the fact that he and Renee had zero onscreen chemistry, but Carlos’s descent into alcoholism was a strange choice. Also, this season loses major points for the pointless decision to kill off Mike Delfino so close to the show’s end. Susan may not have gotten her happily ever after (though she did become a grandmother) but at least Tom and Lynette found their way back to one another. Their journey there was one of the most compelling stories of the season.

6 Season 2

Season 2 gets a bad rap, but really it just had the unfortunate circumstance of following one of the best seasons on television. Betty Applewhite was an interesting character – and Alfre Woodard is an amazing actress – but the mystery revolving around her two sons was fairly convoluted.

RELATED: Every Shondaland Show, Ranked

Despite the issues with Season 2’s central whodunnit, the subplots pretty much made up for whatever that story was lacking. Some particularly great ones were Bree’s horrifying relationship with George, her struggle with alcoholism, and Andrew’s villainous turn. Lynette returned to work and Gabby came to terms with losing her baby, as well as having her husband in jail. Plus, Susan and Edie shared some pretty great moments thanks to the latter’s relationship with the former’s ex-husband.

5 Season 5

Season 5 injected new life into the series by launching with a five-year time jump. Unfortunately, it was also the season that the show lost scene-stealer Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt. Despite that, it was a solid season. Again, the central mystery was a bit lacking, but despite how easy it was to guess the Dave Williams twist, the resulting story was undeniably exciting.

RELATED: Grey’s Anatomy: 10 Meredith Grey Quotes We Can All Relate To

Susan and Mike split up, Bree becomes the success we all knew she could be, and Tom deals with a midlife crisis. Katherine and Mike get together, while Gabby adjusts to motherhood and Carlos’ blindness. Aside from that, Bree and Orson were having some marital problems – this was the year the writers completely ruined Kyle MacLachlan’s character with a pointless kleptomaniac plot.

4 Season 6

Season 6 was arguably the last really good year that Desperate Housewives had. The Bolens moved in, bringing a new and exciting mystery along with them. In fact, Season 6 had two major whodunnits: The Bolens and the Fairview strangler. Both mysteries were compelling, between the Bolens’ secretive pasts and Julie’s attack. Drea de Matteo was perfect as Angie Bolen and who didn’t love seeing John Barrowman as the villainous Patrick Logan?

RELATED: 10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

Katherine had a meltdown after Mike and Susan reunited, but she then wound up with Robin, which was a rather delightful plot twist – though it was sad to say goodbye to Dana Delany. Bree discovered Rex had an illegitimate son, Lynette got pregnant again and Gabby took in her niece.

3 Season 4

Despite a shortened episode count thanks to the writers strike, Season 4 is excellent television. It introduced Katherine Mayfair, Bob Hunter, and Lee McDermott, all of whom were great additions to the cast. Plus, Nathan Fillion played Katherine’s husband and Gary Cole portrayed her evil ex! The mystery didn’t make a ton of sense, but this season was so good that it made little difference.

RELATED: Firefly: Where Are They Now?

Lynette was forced to fight both cancer and her terrible stepdaughter. Bree pretended to be pregnant when it was really Danielle who was carrying a child – which really is such a Bree thing to do. Gabby and Carlos got back together, despite being involved with Victor and Edie, respectively. Susan and Mike were finally happy and expecting a child. Plus, that tornado episode!

2 Season 1

The one that started it all is not only among the best seasons of Desperate Housewives but also one of the best seasons of TV, period. Season 1 started with a literal bang as Mary Alice Young shot herself and from there, the series only subverted expectations both of what nighttime soaps could explore, as well as what layered female TV characters could look like.

RELATED: One Tree Hill: 10 Best Episodes, Ranked

There are so many unforgettable moments! Just to name a few; Susan is locked out of her house naked, Gabby mows her lawn in an evening gown, a fully clothed Lynette walks into a pool to discipline her misbehaving kids, and Bree makes the bed while her husband has a heart attack. Aside from that, Mary Alice’s suicide remains the most engaging mystery of the entire series.

1 Season 3

For taking these beloved characters in so many unexpected directions and giving fans another fantastic mystery, Season 3 just edges out Season 1. Orson Hodge became the new man in Bree’s life, but the audience knew that he had run over Mike. The answers were unexpected and led to a wonderful role for Dixie Carter as Orson’s devious mother.

Mike awoke from his coma with no memory, allowing him to be easily manipulated by Edie. Meanwhile, Susan took solace in Ian, who understood exactly what she had gone through. The result was a very exciting love…square? Gabby and Carlos got divorced and tried their hands at the single life – thankfully, it didn’t take. Edie’s nephew Austin moved to town, which spelled trouble for Julie, and Tom’s secret daughter was revealed. “Bang,” which saw Laurie Metcalf’s Carolyn Bigsby go on a shooting spree at the grocery store, is considered by many to be the best episode of the entire series.

Real Housewives of OC’s Gretchen Rossi Could Lose House Over Unpaid Mortgage

Advertisements

The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Gretchen Rossi could lose her house over unpaid mortgage bills. The Real Housewives of Orange County alum was told she has one month to find the money and pay up.

Rossi starred on the hit reality show from season 4 to season 8, where she was listed as one of the main housewives. When she premiered on the show, she was going through the grieving process after learning her fiancé was dying from Leukemia. Sadly, her fiancé did pass away during the filming of the show, leading her main storyline to became about Slade Smiley. The two began dating only a short time after the death of Rossi’s fiancé, and Smiley’s split from another housewife. Smiley and Rossi were referred to as the “mean” couple, as they always called the other housewives names during arguments. Rossi eventually decided to leave the show because she was no longer getting along with the main housewife, Vicki Gunvalson, and she wanted to pursue other avenues.

As for Rossi, she has not commented on the situation and has yet to marry Smiley, but the couple did welcome their first child recently – a baby girl named Skylar Gray. Andy Cohen Reveals Which Real Housewives Star He Relates to Most

Advertisements

Andy Cohen, the executive producer of The Real Housewives franchise, revealed which of the Real Housewives stars he relates to the most. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host said he had a hard time narrowing down just one, so he came up with four housewives to whom he most related.

Cohen, who is now synonymous with the Real Housewives franchise and his late-night talk show on Bravo, started out at Bravo as the vice-president of programming. Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen then became a second gig to his day job in 2009, and the show expanded into a successful weeknight series. He is very closely related to the Real Housewives as Andy hosts all of the franchise’s reunion shows at the end of each season of each show. He interviews the housewives, getting them to recount the drama and memorable moments of conflict on the show. As executive producer, host, and oftentimes friend to the housewives, he’s built special bonds with each of the shows and cast.

Now, when AOL asked him which of the many housewives he related to most, he couldn’t just pick one. He tried to play it safe by saying, “I want to say that there’s a little bit of all of them in me, but that’s a lie.” Finally, Cohen narrowed it down to four housewives, beginning with Nene Leakes, the star of The Real Housewives of Atlantaand currently one of the highest-paid housewives in the whole franchise. She is known for being a fashionista, diva, and entrepreneur, owning several of her own fashion stores all over the country. Cohen said, “I hope that I have the energy and enthusiasm of Nene.”

Next, he said, “I hope that I have some of the business sense of Bethenny [Frankel] or Lisa Vanderpump.” Bethenny, who is from Cohen’s personal favorite show, The Real Housewives of New York City, is known to be one of the most business savvy housewives as she is the creator of the SkinnyGirl brand, which branched off from cookbooks to cocktails and is now worth an estimated $100 million. Vanderpump, from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is a mogul in the restaurant business, owning over 30 restaurants worldwide, as well as her own Bravo spinoff, Vanderpump Rules, documenting the drama that happens in one of her restaurants. Cohen also said he had “some of the humor of Bethenny,” and, last but not least, “some of the chutzpah of Margaret [Josephs].” Margaret, from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is a fashion designer, entrepreneur, and owner of Macbeth Collection brand.

Cohen chose four very different women from four very different branches of the franchise, and fans will likely agree that Cohen has embodied all of these traits in order to gain the success he has in his career. The women of these franchise have a lot more going for them than just being rich housewives with entertaining personalities; and Cohen coming up with four housewives that he relates to individually proves just how versatile these women really are.

Real Housewives’ Denise Richards Thanks Fans for Spotting Enlarged Thyroid

Advertisements

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richards has reached out in a new Instagram post to thank the fans who noticed that she may have an enlarged thyroid. At the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion show, fans noticed that her neck was swollen, and it turned out to be an enlarged thyroid.

Denise Richards, who came to fame as an actress, specifically on Beverly Hills 90210, has recently become a reality television star. She started off as a guest housewife back in season 5, and fast-forwarding three seasons, she’s just finished her first season as a main housewife on the reality series. Described as one of the more mild-mannered of the housewives, she has recently caused a stir on the season 9 finale, as she and Camille Grammer began to accuse each other of using drugs. However, while fans watched the finale, they noticed something beyond the fights and name-calling.

Fans noticed that Denise’s neck looked swollen during the season 9 reunion show. Denise spoke on the Daddy Issues podcast about how the fans were the ones who pointed out the fact that she needed to seek medical attention for the symptoms she was exhibiting. She said, “I was like, ‘Why does my neck look bigger?’ I had other symptoms, but I just kept ignoring it. And finally, when a couple people pointed it out, I was like, I have to look into it.” Fans who “were concerned because they had thyroid issues” started noticing the visual symptoms on the reunion episodes. Richards said that the medical issue is easily fixable and not serious, but since she was already having trouble digesting gluten, she just decided to cut it out completely. She recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram with a note of thanks to fans in the caption. Check out the post below:

In cutting out gluten, she realized that the swelling in her neck went down dramatically, saying, “I was shocked how just in a few days, my throat started going down.” She said she was very grateful for her fans for pointing out the medical issue that she had been in denial about and had ignored for so long. The caption read: “A few of you pointed out after the #RHOBH reunion that my thyroid was enlarged. You were right, it was something I ignored until pointed out.” She then went on to express gratitude for her fans for looking out for her, writing, “I thank all of you who sent me messages.”

Thanks to the observant fans who noticed the slight swelling in her neck, she was able to take control of her diet and turn the enlarged thyroid into a message for fans to prioritize self-care. If she would have let the enlarged thyroid continue as it was, she was running the risk of it developing into a more serious gluten-intolerance, such as Celiac disease. Now that she’s healthier than ever, Denise can look forward to all-new drama between her and her The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-stars.

10 Reality Shows For Fans Of The Real Housewives

Advertisements

Fans of the Real Housewives franchise have been invested since the first show, Orange County, premiered in 2006. Now there’s New York, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Dallas, and Potomac (along with a few spin-offs that didn’t last many seasons). There are gifs, memes, and inside jokes, and the series has become a part of popular culture.

RELATED: Every Single Real Housewives TV Show, Ranked

The Real Housewives franchise has much drama and fighting that it would make sense if it was the only reality show that you watched… but there are so many other options out there that you’re sure to enjoy as well. Here are 10 reality shows for fans of The Real Housewives.

10 Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Advertisements

If you love watching a well-known family live their lives, then you’ve probably watched an episode (or a season) of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The show premiered in 2007 and now is now on its 16th season.

RELATED: 10 Reality TV Stars Who Have Been On Multiple Reality Shows

KUWTK is a great show for fans of the Real Housewives because by now, many of the housewives have become celebrities. Teresa Giudice is perhaps the most famous of them all and has books and products that she promotes, and she often talks about this stuff on the show. You’re already used to watching the famous housewives and now you can watch the famous Kardashian-Jenner family, too.

9 Very Cavallari

If you watched The Hills then you know Kristin Cavallari… and if you know Kristin Cavallari then you probably know that she’s been doing a ton of stuff since that early reality show. She’s married with kids, a cookbook author, and running the jewelry brand, Uncommon James.

Kristin is also the star of her own reality show, Very Cavallari, and the second season is currently airing on the E! network. This is the perfect show for Real Housewives fans because of one element: the drama. There is a lot of tension between Kristin and her employees and that is often the focal point of each episode.

8 The City

Everyone knows The Hills, but did anyone catch the spin-off, The City? Whitney Port starred on this show, which only ran for two seasons, and it was about how she moved to New York and worked in fashion. She dated, had some friendship drama, and generally tried to find herself and become who she wanted to be.

The City is beautifully produced and the shots of NYC streets are enough to make you book a vacation right away, so it’s great for fans of the Real Housewives who enjoy seeing the city that each show is filmed in (particularly fans of RHONY).

7 Teen Mom OG

Anyone who watches MTV reality shows or is a big fan of the genre would find it tough to ignore the Teen Mom franchise. But even if someone has never seen an episode of 16 and Pregnant, which is the MTV series which originally sparked the spin-off, they should still watch Teen Mom OG.

This show features the four girls who had babies during their adolescent years and are now bringing up those kids (or in the case of Catelynn, dealing with giving their kid up for adoption and now they have two other kids). The latest season had two new girls, Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd. It’s a reality show that is worth checking out if you love getting a look at someone’s every day life.

6 Bethenny Ever After

An oldie but a goodie kind of reality show, Bethenny Ever After aired for three seasons on Bravo from 2010 until 2012. The show was about Bethenny Frankel and basically showed you her real life for a little while.

Back then, she was married to Jason Hoppy and they were about to have their daughter. She has since gotten divorced from him. The drama of that has been a big part of her time on RHONY so if fans want to go back a few years and get the background story, this is a good reality show to watch. You can also watch Bethenny’s previous show, Bethenny Getting Married which, of course, was about her wedding.

5 #RichKids Of Beverly Hills

#RichKids Of Beverly Hills ran for four seasons on the E! network and while it’s sadly over, there are still enough episodes for you to get your reality show binge-watching on.

It’s super easy to tell what this show is about thanks to the very clear title. The “rich kids” are Dorothy Wang, Morgan Stewart, and their pals. Want to see how very wealthy young people live? Want to watch them order expensive takeout and have a lifestyle that costs more by the second that yours ever would? This is your chance. The show is also worth it for the outlandish statements, like when Morgan said, “My personal trainer’s fee is $1,000. I drop a lot of money to complain with her.”

4 Vanderpump Rules

Calling all Real Housewives superfans: you have to go one step further and get into Vanderpump Rules. This show is a spin-off of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and is about Lisa Vanderpump and her restaurant, SUR.

The show is really popular and has been on the air for seven seasons now. This show might even have bigger arguments and more “wow, that was wild!” moments than the Housewives francise, so it’s a must for anyone who loves Lisa. And, of course, if you get into RHOB you have to love Lisa because she’s a totally stylish and fabulous person.

3 The Hills: New Beginnings

Fans of the early 2000s MTV reality show The Hills can’t wait for the new spin-off called The Hills: New Beginnings which is premiering in June 2019. Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, and Whitney Port are coming back, along with Mischa Barton (yes, the actress who played Marissa on The O.C.). Lauren Conrad isn’t coming back for the new show, though.

This is another good show for fans of the Real Housewives since it seems like it’s totally going to have the same great elements: drama, friendships that might get tested (okay, that probably will get tested), and a high production value.

2 Siesta Key

Fans of the Real Housewives should stop whatever they’re doing and check out Siesta Key ASAP. It couldn’t be a more perfect show for fans of friend groups that are often on the rocks, all kinds of personal drama, and pretty people who like getting dressed up for parties.

There have been two seasons on MTV so far and every episode honestly feels like it could be a music video. The environment is gorgeous since the show is set in a Florida beach town, and you never know who is dating who or which couple is going to break up. It’s a thrilling show.

1 Southern Charm

The final show that any Real Housewives loyal viewer should watch is Southern Charm. The Bravo series has been on the air since 2014 and the sixth season is about to premiere this spring 2019.

The series is about a group of pals who live in Charleston, and honestly there are times when it could be a part of the Housewives franchise since the friends are often fighting or getting really emotional with one another.

These 10 reality shows are perfect for fans of the Real Housewives franchise… and for anyone who can’t stop getting sucked into reality shows that look good and don’t stop with the drama, ever.
