Star Wars: Mark Hamill Shares Fan-Made Original Trilogy Reunion Image

Mark Hamill shares a fan-made image reuniting the beloved characters of the Star Wars original trilogy, wondering what might have been if the old guard went on another adventure together. By the time The Force Awakens picked up 30 years after Return of the Jedi, the heroes of the Rebellion had all gone their separate ways. Following the emergence of the First Order and Ben Solo’s turn to the dark side, Luke Skywalker fled to Ahch-To to die in isolation, Han Solo returned to a career of smuggling around the galaxy, and Princess Leia led the Resistance. The trio never saw each other again, due to Kylo Ren murdering his father at the end of Force Awakens.

For the sequel trilogy, the filmmakers created a new generation of heroes and villains that would carry the Skywalker saga towards its conclusion, introducing audiences to characters like Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron. The old guard of the originals was still a part of the new films, but they were all relegated to supporting roles. There are many fans out there who wish the veterans got one last hurrah together, and Hamill certainly sympathizes with that viewpoint.

Related: Star Wars 9 Theory: Snoke Was Actually Palpatine All Along

On Twitter, Hamill posted a fan-made image of the older versions of Han, Luke, Leia, and Lando Calrissian flying in the Millennium Falcon as they look to accomplish another mission. In his post, Hamill used the hashtag #MissedOpportunities. Check it out in the space below:

In the past, Hamill’s been vocal about his wish to see the original trilogy characters reunite, and even pitched a few ideas to J.J. Abrams. As fun as it might have been to see the band back together, an argument can be made the sequel trilogy is better because that didn’t happen. Luke, Han, and Leia already had their story told, and Star Wars needed fresh blood in order to be viable again. Additionally, the lack of a reunion made Han’s death all the more tragic. He never got an opportunity to patch things up with his best friend after it all went south. The closest fans got to seeing the original big three again was Luke and Leia’s tearful meeting on Crait, where Solo’s lucky gold dice symbolized his presence. Han’s death still would have been impactful if he saw Luke again, but knowing the two’s relationship (probably) was fractured and would never be repaired really tugged at the heartstrings.

Though Hamill made headlines for saying he fundamentally disagreed with The Last Jedi (comments he later regretted making), people should not take this as any sort of serious criticism of the modern movies. On social media, Hamill is a renowned prankster and enjoys trolling his followers – especially Star Wars fans. In all likelihood, this is tapping into that side of his personality, though it will be interesting to see if this actually turns out to be a tease of sorts. With The Rise of Skywalker set to definitively end the saga, people have their fingers crossed for some kind of flashback involving the big three.

Spider-Man Meets Mysterio In New Far From Home Image

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man meets a new potential ally in Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) in a new image from Spider-Man: Far From Home. All the attention for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently on the debut of Avengers: Endgame in theaters, and while fans around the world are just now beginning to experience the film, Phase 3 is not yet over. As Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently revealed, Spider-Man: Far From Home is actually the end of Phase 3, and it will hit theaters in just over two months.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Peter Parker go on an overseas summer vacation with his friends. It has previously been said that the film picks up just minutes after Avengers: Endgame, meaning it should be the first insight into the MCU after however the newly released blockbuster ends. The first trailer for Far From Home, though, suggests that it will not be an easy time for Peter. He wants to take a break from being a hero right now and just enjoy the summer, but is then recruited by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to fight The Elementals with the help of magician Quentin Beck aka Mysterio.

Related: Sorry, Avengers: Infinity War Didn’t Set Up Spider-Man: Far From Home

Although Mysterio is traditionally a villain to Spider-Man in the comics, Spider-Man: Far From Home is making him a hero (or at least that is what the cast and crew are saying in the press so far). The aforementioned trailer showed Mysterio fighting Hydro-Man, one of The Elementals, and appeared to save Peter in the process. Now in a new image from EW, the two heroes come face to face.

The possible first true encounter between Spider-Man and Mysterio is a big moment that fans of Marvel comics have been waiting to see, but it also confirms a major plot point for the movie. This photo confirms that Mysterio will know of Spider-Man’s true identity, which could come back to haunt Peter if Quentin does become a villain. The duo will reportedly quickly spark a friendship and director Jon Watts said that Mysterio will be the “cool uncle” to Peter when compared to Tony Stark being his mentor in Homecoming, which could make such a turn all the more difficult for Peter to accept.

The photo also gives us an incredibly detailed look at Mysterio’s costume, and the translation to the big screen is just as magnificent as fans of the comics have been hoping for. Additionally, the photo includes Numan Acar in the background, who is rumored to possibly be playing fellow Spidey villain Chameleon. The location of the meeting could potentially be the base of Mysterio and Chameleon, or at least a hiding spot. Regardless, it will be fascinating to see how Spider-Man and Mysterio’s relationship evolves from this point on in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Last of Us Part 2 Wraps Cinematics with Emotional Ellie & Joel Image

The Last of Us Part II has wrapped up its shoot with an emotional image of Ellie and Joel. The Last of Us Part II was originally announced at PlayStation Experience in 2016, and it remains one of the most highly anticipated game releases.

Not too much has been revealed about The Last of Us Part II. Instead of unveiling large bits of the story, Sony has remained subtle in the marketing; and aside from its first reveal, there are two other trailers. There was the October video in 2017, reminding viewers that the world Joel and Ellie live in is very violent. The second trailer was gameplay-focused, providing viewers a look at how The Last of Us II will play. Based on what was shown, The Last of Us Part II is looking to somehow improve upon what was considered perfect gameplay in the original game. Now, it looks like motion capture on the sequel has wrapped up.

Related: The Last of Us Part 2 – Everything You Need To Know

Neil Druckmann posted an image on Twitter showing Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, the individuals behind Joel and Ellie. He captioned the photo: “And that’s a wrap on Ellie, Joel, and the most ambitious cinematic shoot we’ve ever done. Tears were shed…” With the emotional wrap-up, The Last of Us Part II has taken a leap toward completion. Check out the tweet below:

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson were both applauded for their work in The Last of Us. The game took place in a United States overrun by a fungus infection, and those infected turned into horrifying cannibalistic creatures. The goal of the game is survival, but the heart of the story is the relationship that develops between Joel and Ellie. Because Joel lost his daughter at the start of the outbreak, he grows to love Ellie as his own daughter; and, likewise, Ellie goes through her own development. Ellie is older in the new game, and based on what we’ve seen so far, her role is going to be even more substantial. In fact, Druckmann originally stated that Ellie is the only playable character in The Last of Us Part II.

It is certainly a good thing to hear that The Last of Us Part II is getting closer to full completion. Its unrevealed release date has been one of the hottest topics in the gaming community, with many wondering if it will make the holidays. Back in January, Gustavo Santaolalla, the game’s composer, claimed The Last of Us Part II would be “coming very soon.” If that’s accurate, it’s largely possible we’ll see the game later this year; and if Naughty Dog announces a release date in the near future, the hype would be immense. The Last of Us perfectly combined gameplay and story. If the sequel does the same, and even better, it will instantly become the greatest game on the PlayStation 4 for many.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Image Offers Best Look At New Red & Black Suit

New images from Spider-Man: Far From Home feature Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) two new suits and his team-up with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). All eyes may currently be on Avengers: Endgame‘s rapidly approaching release, but it won’t be that long after it debuts that the next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe arrives. Spider-Man: Far From Home will pick up minutes after the ending to Avengers: Endgame, making it the first Phase 4 MCU film.

Thanks to this placement, Marvel Studios and Sony have been put in a difficult position when it comes to marketing Spider-Man: Far From Home. As of right now, Spider-Man is still among the half of the universe’s population that was turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and how he returns – and what the state of the MCU will be once he does – is likely a spoiler for Avengers: Endgame. Sony has still continued to promote their big summer blockbuster, but they’ve also refrained from showing off too much. What we have seen is plenty of Peter’s overseas summer vacation and that he’ll be recruited by Fury to stop the Elementals.

Related: Spider-Man: Far From Home Theory – Thanos Unleashed The Elementals

The lone trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home officially revealed the new suits that Peter was previously seen wearing on set, and now USA Today has provided two new images that feature them. The first image puts Peter in a brand new red and black suit, and he appears to be preparing to take Michelle (Zendaya) somewhere. The second image only shows the back of his all-black stealth/tactical suit, which has the eye goggles flipped up. This photo shows Peter meeting with Nick Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), potentially prepping for a mission.

This exact sequence of Michelle and Peter together was previously seen taking place on set, and the interaction between them has led many to wonder if MJ will learn that Peter is Spider-Man during Spider-Man: Far From Home. The suit looks fantastic regardless. The stealth suit is not prominently featured here, but Peter wearing it in a meeting with Fury and Hill could serve as further evidence that they (and S.H.I.E.L.D.) give him this new suit as part of their partnership.

Now that some official images have been released, many will now begin to wonder when the second trailer will arrive. There have been rumors that Sony and Marvel Studios are waiting until after Avengers: Endgame has been released to do so. Considering the first trailer was lacking on many story details, the second trailer may be prepared to let more information out of the bag – but these details may be spoilers themselves for Avengers: Endgame. The wait for a second trailer isn’t even being felt at the moment thanks to the attention the end of Phase 3 is getting anyways. But, with a now slightly earlier release date set, Sony is likely itching to kick the marketing into high gear, and these Spider-Man: Far From Home photos can help tide everyone over until that can happen.

Star Wars 9 Image Unites The Main Cast For New Mission

The main cast of Star Wars: Episode IX unites on an intergalactic adventure in a brand new image. When Disney and Lucasfilm decided to bring back the galaxy far, far away, they began this process with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. The new film picked up decades after the original trilogy and brought back original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford – but the focus of these new movies has been on a brand new group of characters.

This group of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) have quickly become favorites of fans, but so far the new trilogy has hardly featured them all together. Finn got to spend time with each of the other two in The Force Awakens, while Rey was largely on her own in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. When director J.J. Abrams debuted the first image from Episode 9 though, fans got to see the trio together at last.

Related: Star Wars 9 Theory: Rey & Kylo’s Force Connection Will Bring True Balance

During the Star Wars: Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration, Abrams debuted another new image from the film that featured Rey, Finn, and Poe together standing outside the Millennium Falcon. They are joined by Chewbacca, BB-8, and C-3PO – who appears to be greeting them on an unknown jungle planet. Check out the image below:

There are no details at this time about what exactly their mission will be (although stay tuned as the trailer could do just that), but this trio together should make it fun no matter what. Obviously, this part of their mission is not from the same moment as the previously released photo, so we do at least know that this ensemble will journey across the galaxy and to many different planets throughout Star Wars 9.

As we wait for more details on the mission itself, the takeaway here that is sure to get fans most excited is just the main cast all being together for an extended period of time. Each are beloved in their own right, but now we’ll get to see what the group dynamic will be like. All three are strong willed and capable leaders, so it will fascinating to see how they work together to go on this top secret mission. Plus, since Star Wars: Episode IX is being billed as the final entry in the Skywalker Saga, this could be the final appearance by all three of these characters, so it would be a shame if they didn’t share the screen more in the movie. Thankfully, it sounds like there will be plenty of scenes with Rey, Finn, and Poe together here.

DC Universe’s Stargirl First Look Image Reveals Costume, Teases S.T.R.I.P.E.

The DC Universe Stargirl TV show first look image reveals Courtney Whitmore’s (Brec Bassinger) superhero costume ahead of the series’ early 2020 premiere. DC Universe launched on Batman Day 2018 and shortly after, the service’s first original series, Titans, premiered. The company was so confident in their live-action take on the DC Comics Teen Titans team that they renewed Titans for season 2 ahead of the show’s initial debut. But Titans is just one of many DC Universe originals planned for subscribers. Others include a mix of live-action and animated fare, like Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn and Stargirl.

Based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name, Stargirl tells the story of Courtney Whitmore, the step-daughter of Pat Dugan aka. the Star-Spangled Kid (Luke Wilson), who discovers her step-father’s superhero costume. Courtney is resentful of Pat for marrying her mother and moving them from a metropolitan area to the much more rural Nebraska and she dons the superhero costume in an act of rebellion. However, Courtney becomes a superhero in her own right and eventually takes on the mantle of Stargirl. Now, ahead of Stargirl’s DC Universe premiere, the company has unveiled a first look at Bassinger in costume as the titular superhero.

Related: Every Original TV Show Coming To DC Universe

Out of the official DC Universe panel at WonderCon this weekend, the streaming service revealed fans’ first look at Stargirl’s Courtney Whitmore suited up and ready for superhero action. The costume is incredibly accurate to Stagirl’s from the comics, down to the star details on her sleeves and the red gloves. Further, Courtney’s holding on to the Cosmic Staff, which she receives from Jack Knight aka. Starman (Joel McHale) in the comic books. Take a look at the Stargirl image below.

Further, DC Universe announced Stargirl is expected to premiere in early 2020, slightly later than the previously revealed Fall 2019 window. It’s possible Stargirl was delayed slightly to make room for Titans season 2, which now debuts Fall 2019. The change comes to the DC Universe TV series release schedule revealed at New York Comic Con 2018, where Titans held its world premiere screening. Now it appears Stargirl will premiere a little later than previously expected, but not too much later.

In terms of Stargirl’s costume, the quality is perhaps a little better than that of Legends of Tomorrow’s Stargirl. But that version of Stargirl was a member of the Justice Society of America during the 1940s and her costume may have been on the simpler side to fit the time period. Certainly, DC Universe’s Stargirl looks much more modern. What may be most interesting about this image, though, is what it only partially reveals: Pat Dugan’s robotic suit S.T.R.I.P.E. Part of the robot’s leg and hand can be seen behind Courtney, giving fans an idea of the sheer size of S.T.R.I.P.E. in the upcoming TV show.

While we likely won’t get a Stargirl trailer until much later this year ahead of the show’s 2020 premiere, this first look image should tide over fans till then. Still, fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing Stargirl in action as soon as possible.

Batman: Hush Animated Movie First Look Image Released; Cast Confirmed

Here’s a first look image from the forthcoming Batman: Hush animated movie, along with confirmation of the film’s voice cast. Originally a 2002-2003 comic arc by renowned comic writer Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee, Batman: Hush is a widely-loved part of the Caped Crusader’s canon and marked the debut of the story’s titular villain: a mysterious bandage-covered sociopath determined to take down the Batman for reasons unknown. The arc features an array of popular characters, both allies and villains, and even includes the mighty Superman in a sizeable role.

Due to the arc’s popularity, there has been strong interest throughout the years in bringing Hush to life in animated form and in 2016, reports began to emerge suggesting such a project was underway via teases from long-serving voice actors Kevin Conroy (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Mark Hamill (Joker). Two years later, a Batman: Hush animated movie was officially announced with a mid-2019 release date. Back in January, a reported cast list was revealed but surprisingly omitted Conroy and Hamill, instead featuring a few more surprising names.

Related: The TRUE Origin Of Batman’s Logo Is Finally Revealed

IGN have now confirmed the cast list for Batman: Hush and have also released a first look image from the film. The cast is as follows: Jason O’Mara as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jennifer Morrison as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Rebecca Romijn as Lois Lane, Rainn Wilson as Lex Luther, Sean Maher as Nightwing, Bruce Thomas as Jim Gordon, Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne, James Garrett as Alfred, Maury Sterling as Hush, Geoffrey Arend as Riddler, Vanessa Williams as Amanda Waller, Jason Spisak as Joker, Adam Gifford as Bane, Peyton List as Poison Ivy and Batgirl, Dachie Alessio as Lady Shiva and Tara Strong as an unnamed reporter. The image shows Hush‘s version of Batman and can be seen below:

Given Conroy and Hamill’s strong interest in the Hush project, it’s somewhat curious that they haven’t been included on this occasion, despite their history in the animated realm of Batman. With that said, Jason O’Mara has voiced the Caped Crusader in the past and others such as Jerry O’Connell, Rainn Wilson and Rebecca Romijn are also names that many DC animation fans will already be familiar with. The cast does, however, include a few pleasant surprises. Peyton List has already portrayed Poison Ivy on Gotham, so her addition presents a nice piece of franchise continuity and veteran voice actress Tara Strong has previously played Harley Quinn in other animated features. Could she secretly be reprising the role in Hush?

As for the image, even though only Batman is featured, it’s clear that Hush will feature a different visual style to the comic source material and will be more in line with other animated movies such as Gotham Knight and Son of Batman, the latter of which also starred O’Mara as the famous vigilante. It’ll be fascinating to see this sleeker version of Batman take on the Hush story.

Idris Elba Brandishes a Flamethrower in New Hobbs & Shaw Image

Idris Elba is brandishing a flamethrower in a new photo from the Fast & Furious spinoff movie Hobbs & ShawA new addition to the Fast & Furious franchise, Elba will be playing the spinoff’s main villain known only as Brixton.

In Hobbs & Shaw, two Fast & Furious characters, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw (played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, respectively), are reunited and have no other choice but to work side-by-side for the greater good. In the Fast & Furious films, Hobbs and Shaw worked on opposing sides of the law, which naturally put them at odds with each other. In their spinoff film, however, they have no choice but to team up – not only to prevent a cyber-enhanced anarchist named Brixton (Elba), but to save Shaw’s MI6 agent sister. The first trailer for the film proved exactly how powerful Elba’s character is, and a new photo from the film shows off the wide range of weaponry he’ll be equipped with in the new film.

Related: The Deadliest Fast And Furious Characters, Ranked

One of Hobbs & Shaw’s producers, Hiram Garcia, who has produced everything from Skyscraper to Shazam!, posted a photo from the film on his Twitter page. In the photo, Brixton is shooting flames out of a massive flamethrower. Standing in front of a wall of weapons, he’s clearly picked out his weapon of choice from the large selection. Check out the image from the tweet below:

The film will be an exciting pitstop for fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, but a direct sequel to The Fate of the Furious will, indeed, hit theaters. For now, though, fans will have to wait another year until the original characters re-team, with a planned release date for May 2020. In fact, a fifth Fast and Furious film has already been greenlit; as has a female-led spinoff, though its release date is currently TBA.

From what the trailers have shown, it almost seems as though Elba’s character doesn’t even require a weapon, as he’s basically a weapon himself. The Fast & Furious franchise has grown progressively off-the-wall with its action, and this spinoff has fully embraced the fact that it’s no longer worried about staying grounded. The franchise promises unparalleled action, but its characters may as well now be on the same playing field as any character in a modern superhero movie – which likely wasn’t done by accident; especially in Hobbs & Shaw’s case.

Joker Movie Director Reveals New Image of Joaquin Phoenix

Director Todd Phillips has revealed a brand new image of Joaquin Phoenix in Joker. One of the more surprising developments to come from Warner Bros. and DC Films over the last year or so was the idea that they’d start doing movies not set within a larger continuity. These have been compared to DC’s Elseworlds comics, and the studios are kicking off the concept with a highly anticipated package as the three time Oscar-nominee Joaquin Phoenix will show the origin of the Clown Prince of Crime.

The movie generated plenty of attention throughout the filming process last year as Phoenix took to the streets of New York, often in creepy clown makeup, to film the movie. It was impossible to keep paparazzi away from the set and provided interested fans with plenty of looks at Phoenix’s portrayal of Batman’s greatest foe. To try and combat some of these leaks, Phillips has also been releasing official looks at Phoenix’s terrifying camera test, him in between takes, and now what looks to be a scene from the actual film.

Related: Every Upcoming & In-Development DC Movie

The director provided a small update on the status of Joker today on his Instagram. He is currently editing the film after production wrapped last December, and now was the appropriate time in his mind to share a new look at Phoenix. He is shown here without any clown makeup on, instead attentively staring at the TV in front of him as he watches VHS tapes.

While this isn’t the most revealing photo from Joker, it is still enough to put the film back at the forefront of the minds of fans after months of no updates. One potentially interesting aspect to the photo is the interior design of the house that Arthur Fleck (Joker’s real name in the movie) is stationed in. For a down on his luck and failing comic, the decorations look a bit nicer than some may expect. This could just be some of his prized possessions, but it could also be a hint that this is not Arthur’s house at all. Maybe this is him breaking into a house of an unsuspecting victim and watching their home videos to learn more about them.

This is just speculation for the time being, but set photos have also shown him stalking Zazie Beetz’s character, and there is always Joker’s crazy side to consider. Hopefully this won’t be the last thing we see from Joker for an extended amount of time again, as a trailer will hopefully be arriving soon. There’s still seven months to go before the film hits theaters, and the smaller budget and known entity means it doesn’t need a major marketing push, but with horror movies like Pet Sematary, fellow DC movie Shazam!, and a summer full of blockbusters right around the corner, the time to see more from Joker is rapidly approaching.

Johnny Depp Feels Bad J.K. Rowling Had to Defend His Casting to Harry Potter Fans

Johnny Depp is finally addressing those who oppose his casting in the upcoming Harry Potter film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, including how they have affected writer J.K. Rowling. Last year, following the release of the first cast photo for the film, the author expressed her support of the casting. Rowling, along with director David Yates, skated around the concerns, saying that she is “genuinely happy” to have him on board.

Controversy regarding Depp’s involvement in the beloved franchise came about around the time of the first film. Depp had been embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, over allegations of domestic violence. The Aquaman actress responded to a statement made by Warner Bros. (the studio behind both films), sharing the joint statement released by the pair following their divorce, but indicating that she is not necessarily in support of her ex.

Related: Johnny Depp Confirms Fantastic Beasts 3 Return As Grindelwald

Now, Depp is speaking out for the first time about his role, and a little about the various allegations against him. In an interview with EW, the actor remarks that he “felt bad” that Rowling was called to defend her choice to cast him. However, he maintains that he is innocent, remarking that he is suing The Sun for defamation. He insists that Rowling is aware of his innocence, which is why she supports him. “She would not stand up if she didn’t know the truth. So that’s really it,” he says.

The allegations he speaks of goes beyond those made by Heard. In July, Depp was sued for assault surrounding an incident that allegedly occurred on the set of his film City of Lies. The actor fought back, claiming that the accusations were false and he didn’t ever touch the defendant, location manager Gregg “Rocky” Brooks. In August, just a month before the film’s scheduled release, City of Lies was pulled, though it’s unknown if this was connected. But in the case of Fantastic Beasts, things continue on as they have.

The studio has clearly fully embraced Depp in the role. At San Diego Comic-Con 2018, he appeared separate from his fellow actors during the Warner Bros. panel, making a speech as Gellert Grindelwald. He is also featured prominently in the latest image for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, front and center with his back to the viewer as the rest of the characters, including Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander and Judd Law’s young Albus Dumbledore, face forward looking at him. Now that it’s been announced that he’ll be returning in the third film, it seems as though everyone has decided to lean in and ignore the problematic allegations against Depp, even as they persist.
