Spider-Man: Far From Home First Teaser Poster Spotted At Licensing Expo

Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home gets a teaser poster as the promotional image is spotted at the Brand Licensing Europe 2018 event in London. Thanks to a deal between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. Since then, Holland’s wall-crawling superhero has headlined his own movie in Spider-Man: Homecoming and teamed up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War. Next, Spidey will return for Avengers 4, then the beloved Marvel hero will kick off Phase 4 of the MCU with Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Despite Peter Parker becoming the victim of Thanos’ snap as part of Infinity War’s cliffhanger ending, we know the web-head will return somehow – whether that means Avengers 4 will use time travel, though, remains to be seen. Holland and stars of Homecoming returned to work this summer as Spider-Man: Far From Home has been filming across Europe. Set photos from the Spider-Man sequel have offered looks at MCU characters joining the Sony movie, including Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill. Now, a promo poster for Spider-Man: Far From Home has also surfaced.

Instagram user Dirtees posted a group of photos from the floor of the Brand Licensing Europe 2018 expo in London, United Kingdom this week. The fourth photo in the post (which can be located by clicking through the series of photos below) features a hanging promotion image for Spider-Man: Far From Home. It appears to be an image of Spider-Man from Homecoming that was repurposed with the Spider-Man: Far From Home movie logo. Take a look at the image below.

Of course, Sony can use images of Spider-Man from Homecoming for the Far From Home posters because Peter Parker is expected to be wearing the same superhero suit. Previously, Holland confirmed Spider-Man will wear the Homecoming suit in the sequel, despite upgrading to the Iron-Spider suit for Infinity War. However, based on Far From Home set photos, Spider-Man will also don a stealth suit that’s all black. Fans have theorized this suit is inspired by Spider-Man Noir, but how exactly Spidey gets the black suit for Far From Home remains to be seen. All we know for now is that Peter Parker will trade in his red and blue costume for something more covert (or, perhaps it’s a separate mode built into the old suit by Tony Stark).

Unfortunately, this Spider-Man: Far From Home promotional poster doesn’t reveal anything new from the movie – neither in terms of the web-head’s suit nor otherwise. That said, with Far From Home set to hit theaters in July 2019, we aren’t too far off from Sony kicking off marketing for the Spider-Man sequel. While there are two MCU movies due in theaters before Far From HomeCaptain Marvel and Avengers 4 – their close release dates mean the marketing pushes for each film will inevitably overlap. Plus, given how secretive Marvel Studios has been with Avengers 4, it’s entirely possible we’ll see some official artwork for Spider-Man: Far From Home even before the Phase 3 capper releases a trailer. For now, fans will have to wait and see – and make due with Holland’s occasional social media reveals and the Spider-Man: Far From Home set photos.

Spider-Man & Nick Fury Go Boating in New Far From Home Set Photo

A brand new Spider-Man: Far From Home set photo features Tom Holland’s headlining hero and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury cruising on a speedboat. Directed by Spider-Man: Homecoming helmsman Jon Watts, the upcoming sequel will be the MCU’s first entry in its still-mysterious Phase 4. Set after the events of Avengers 4, plot details regarding the movie are still being tightly kept under wraps, considering that next year’s Phase 3 culmination will serve as its narrative launching pad. That said, the follow-up will be bigger in scale, with the young hero traveling around Europe with his high school friends for a vacation. But with several bad guys lurking around – like the returning Vulture, Hydro-Man, Chameleon, Molten Man, and the movie’s apparent primary antagonist, Mysterio – it doesn’t seem like he’ll have much downtime.

Both Peter and Fury suffered the same fate in Avengers: Infinity War – snuffed out from existence following Thanos’ deadly snap. But with Avengers 4 expected to bring back most, if not all the heroes who were affected by the galactic genocide, the two will be resurrected one way or another,  thanks to the upcoming efforts of the core Avengers and the help of Ant-Man and Captain Marvel. After the MCU’s crisis at hand is finally resolved, the two (alongside Cobie Smulder’s Maria Hill) will work together to contain a brand new threat in Far From Home.

This latest set photo featuring Spidey and Fury comes courtesy of Twitter user fangirlonloose_. Taken during one of the filming days in Venice, the image features Peter Parker (sporting his arachnid alter-ego’s suit) and the former head of S.H.I.E.LD. cruising on a river aboard a speedboat. Check out the image below:

Far From Home began production in the U.K. back in July, and Venice was the last stop on its European filming leg before returning back to the U.S. to shoot more in New York and Los Angeles. So far, most filming has been done on location, resulting in a slew of set photos that give fans a peek at what the sequel might look like, including a look at Mysterio – supposedly played by Jake Gyllenhaal. A previously leaked video revealed Fury with Maria Hill, but this is the first time that he’s been spotted on the set sharing a scene with Spider-Man.

Not much can be deciphered from the photo, but it appears like Fury came to Spider-Man’s rescue, with the boat functioning as a getaway vessel. It also backs up theories that Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. (or the mysterious organization he’s currently working with) have taken in the young hero, with a separate set image revealing that Peter’s brand new stealth suit could be from the agency. Considering Fury’s now watching out for Peter’s well-being, many are speculating that Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) may bite the bullet in Avengers 4, since he seems to no longer be involved in Peter’s solo missions.  Otherwise, if he’s still alive, it’s odd that Stark wouldn’t have anything to do with his mentee, especially since both Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) are believed to appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Captain Marvel Prequel Comic Teases Nick Fury & Maria Hill Team-Up

Before Captain Marvel hits theaters next March, a prelude comic will arrive later this year to help set up the solo adventure – and tie it to Avengers: Infinity War. There’s plenty of built in anticipation for Captain Marvel as its Marvel Studios’ first solo film starring a female. When the studio announced Brie Larson would be starring as Carol Danvers at San Diego Comic-Con last year, excitement only grew. With her solo film set in in the 1990s, she was left out of Infinity War, up until the post-credits scene when Nick Fury paged her as his last act before Thanos’ snap dusted him.

Since the tease, fans have been wondering what Captain Marvel has been up to for the years in between her solo film and what will be her second MCU appearance in Avengers 4. The other major question is why Fury waited until this event to call in the first superhero he ever met. Thanks to a prelude comic for Captain Marvel, some of those questions could be answered.

Marvel announced the official Captain Marvel Prelude comic today, and it will focus on Nick Fury and Maria Hill’s final moments. The issue will be released on November 14 and is a special 32-page one shot written by Will Corona Pilgrim, with art by Andrea Di Vito. Here is the official synopsis for the issue and the cover:

Before CAROL DANVERS takes flight in 2019’s first Marvel Studios film, immerse yourself in this all-new adventure! Spinning out of the mysterious events of Avengers: Infinity War, NICK FURY and MARIA HILL set off on life-or-death missions that lead directly to the appearance of CAPTAIN MARVEL!

Unlike most of Marvel’s movie prelude comics, Captain Marvel‘s appears to serve as more of an Infinity War wrap up or Avengers 4 tease than a prequel to her solo movie. The description for the issue likely teases a replay of Infinity War‘s final moments, but may also give more context on what Fury and Hill have been up to recently. They’ve been completely absent from Phase 3 up until Infinity War‘s post-credits, so there’s surely some adventures worth telling.

The most intriguing element is how the mission they are on leads directly to Captain Marvel’s arrival. The current cover has a picture of Fury from Infinity War on it, indicating a present day setting for the issue. If these missions Fury and Hill are on do lead right up to the appearance of Carol, then will the issue show her answering Fury’s call in the present day? If it does, whatever they show may be nothing more than a tease of Avengers 4, as Marvel’s prelude comics can be hit or miss with the info they include. Some just recap prior movies, but maybe Captain Marvel‘s will be different. Fans will get to know for sure come later this year.
