SCOOP: Shahid Kapoor in talks for a web series with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK?

Last year, Manoj Bajpayee-fronted The Family Man dropped on Amazon Prime and it got a superb response from all over. It also finally put into spotlight its creators and writers, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj-DK. The director-duo has made several acclaimed films in the past like 99 (2009), Shor In The City (2011) and Go Goa Gone (2013). They were also the writers and producers of the 2018 horror-comedy blockbuster Stree. But it is The Family Man that finally got them the much needed recognition and fame.

And now it has to come to light that they are now gearing up for another series for which they are in talks with none other than popular Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor. A source close to the project says, “It’s all in the preliminary stage right now. The lockdown has thrown things out of gear. But yes it is true that Raj and DK have approached Shahid for a web series and the latter seems interested. Whether the discussions culminate into something eventually remains to be seen.”

Interestingly, Raj and DK were supposed to work with Shahid in a film called Farzi back in 2014. It was to also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kriti Sanon. It was kept in the backburner when Shahid decided to get married in 2015. They later approached Arjun Kapoor in 2017. Sadly, the project failed to take off.

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s plate however is quite full at present. They have completed the shoot of The Family Man 2 and are busy with its post-production. Earlier, this year, it came to light that they are going to helm the Indian version of global series Citadel, produced by Joe and Anthony Russo of Avengers fame. There are also talks that they’ll take Go Goa Gone 2 on floors soon. And lastly, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has also given his nod and shown interest to what the duo call ‘one of their favourite scripts’. With so many projects in hand, it remains to be seen if Raj and DK will be directing all of them or would they be producing a few of these.

As for Shahid Kapoor, he delivered one of the biggest grossers of cinema last year with the intense romantic drama Kabir Singh. He’s currently working on the cricket flick Jersey. The shoot is halted at present due to the lockdown and it is expected to soon commence in a couple of months.

REVEALED: These films are expected to be announced for direct release on Netflix on July 16!

With the Coronavirus cases increasing day by day, the chances of cinema halls opening anytime soon also appear slim. Though the exhibitors are putting up pressure and inside reports state that theatres should start next month or latest by September, the Bollywood filmmakers, it seems, have lost patience. A couple of weeks back, the exhibitors got a jolt when as many as 7 films were announced as direct-to-OTT release, on Disney+ Hotstar. And now, they are in for a far bigger shock. The worldwide streaming giant Netflix is now all set to release its list of Bollywood films, which were originally supposed to release in cinemas, but will now arrive straightaway on their platform. The announcement is expected to be made on July 16, that is, two days from now.

Bollywood Hungama has exclusively got hold of the tentative list and as many as 9 films are expected to be announced. A source says, “The list is tentative but mostly, these are the films that will be unveiled as Netflix originals to the media on the 16th.” These movies are as follows:

1. Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare

Earlier in the day, Bollywood Hungama had revealed that this flick is releasing on Netflix. Starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar, it is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, who earlier made the acclaimed 2017 flick Lipstick Under My Burkha.

2. Torbaaz

It stars Sanjay Dutt and Nargis Fakhri and was one of the first or probably the first Hindi film to be shot in Kyrgyzstan. Directed by Girish Malik, it is set in the Afghanistan city of Kabul and deals with the issue of child suicide bombers. Interestingly, its producer Rahul Mittra had, in March 2020, assured that the film would hit cinemas in October.

3. Ginny Weds Sunny

Directed by debutant director Puneet Khanna and produced by Vinod Bachchan of Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017) fame, this romcom stars Vikrant Massey and Yami Gautam. It was shot in real-life locations in Delhi and also in places like Ghaziabad, Noida, Karnal and Manali. The light-hearted flick is about Ginny and Sunny, who meet for a marital alliance, but she rejects him. Sunny then teams up with the mother, who becomes his love guru, and they together try to woo Ginny.

4. Indoo Ki Jawani

Starring Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal, this Nikkhil Advani production is about a feisty girl from Ghaziabad whose bizarre experience on a dating app results in a comedy of errors. This will be Kiara’s second Netflix film after the Karan Johar-produced Guilty, which was released in March this year.

5. Ludo

It is supposed to be in the Life In A… Metro (2007) zone, which like Ludo, is also directed by Anurag Basu. The ensemble star cast includes Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Pankaj Tripathi.

6. Raat Akeli Hai

Netflix and Radhika Apte are like a match made in heaven. Hence, it’s no surprise that one of the films in the slate also includes a Radhika Apte-starrer. Raat Akeli Hai also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shweta Tripathi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ila Arun and Swanand Kirkire and marks the directorial debut of casting director Honey Trehan. As per reports, this crime thriller is set in the Uttar Pradesh of 1980s, and is about the journey of a man from a rookie cop to an experienced police officer.

7. The Girl On The Train

It is the official remake of the Hollywood film of the same name and stars Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwary. Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, it has been extensively shot in United Kingdom.

8. Anurag Kashyap’s next with Alaya F

This flick is reportedly titled Project 10 and is directed and produced by Anurag Kashyap. Shot extensively in UK, it stars Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaya F, who earlier this year, made her debut with Saif Ali Khan-starrer Jawaani Jaaneman. Anurag has described the film as a ‘young love story’.

9. Ak vs AK

The title is actually a play on the initials of its lead actors – Anurag Kashyap and Anil Kapoor. It is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and is based on a brash film director who kidnaps the daughter of a well-known movie star. Anil’s son Harsh Varrdhan will also be seen in the film in a cameo. This is the only film in the list which was always going to release directly on Netflix and was never intended for a theatrical run.

The source signs off by saying, “Netflix has also backed Dibakar Banerjee’s Manisha Koirala-starrer Freedom and Karan Johar’s The Other (tentative title) and it’s not sure however if these films will also be included in the slate. There’s a slim chance that all films out of these might not make it on the list but one thing is for sure – the announcement is sure to grab eyeballs. Watch out.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife accuses him of infidelity; claims he invited other women home while she was in labour

Over two months ago, actor Nawazuddin’s wife had revealed that she had filed for divorce. Since then, she has made several allegations against her husband. Recently, Aaliya levelled new allegations and accused the actor of infidelity.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife accuses him of infidelity; claims he invited other women home while she was in labour

In an interview with an entertainment portal, Aaliya said that Nawaz used to have women over when she was expecting their first child. She said that even when they were dating and about to get married, the actor was in another relationship. She said that when she was pregnant she had to drive all by herself and go for check ups.

Aaliya said that when she was in labour, Nawaz would be talking to his girlfriends. She said that it was his brother Shamas who gave her the phone bills. She said that he used to talk to other girls for three-four years. She further said that she came to know after her delivery that there were women staying at her place in her absence .

Aaliya said that all these details were told to her by Nawaz’s brother Shamas. However, she could not reveal this information to Nawaz and they would end up fighting.

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin’s lawyer has said that Aaliya has constructed a ‘slander campaign’ against the actor in the media.

No Sacred Games 3, says Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Another season of the highly-acclaimed Netflix series Sacred Games seems out of the question. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who acquired a new level of fame with Sacred Games, admitted as much in a conversation this week.

No Sacred Games 3, says Nawazuddin Siddiqui

“Sacred Games got the kind of worldwide acclaim that none of us associated with the series had seen before. I remember shooting in Rome for Tannishta Chatterjee’s film and over there too there were so many people talking to me about Sacred Games. So we all felt it was right to do it again, and we did a second season ,” says Nawazuddin.

He admits Season 2 was a relative disappointment. “Perhaps, somewhere the intention behind Season 2 was not as sincere as the first time. I admit Sacred Games 2 was a disappointment.”

As for Season 3, Nawazuddin sees little chance of that happening.  “Whatever had to be said from the original novel has already been said. There is nothing left in Vikram Chandra’s novel to be put in Season 3.”

The actor admits his character in Sacred Games and the dialogues were very popular.  “But I can’t take credit for the popularity of the lines that I spoke. I didn’t write them. In India, we often give credit to the actor for a popular line.  In Yash Chopra Saab’s Deewaar, Shashi Kapoor Saab spoke the line, ‘Mere Paas Maa Hai’. But, it was Salim-Javed who wrote that line. So the credit must go to them.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife claims she has recording of actor admitting to not sending legal notice

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lie about sending a legal defamation notice to his wife has been nailed by his wife. His PR team had put out a story that he had sent a legal notice to his wife Anjana Anand Kishore Pandey (nee Aliya Siddiqui) for defamation and also claimed that contrary to her claims he has been paying for his children’s maintenance all along. However in a conversation that his wife taped, one can hear Nawaz sheepishly mumbling that he has not sent her any notice but may soon do so.

To this his wife is heard saying he is walking on slippery ground. And she is right. Nawaz will have to quietly comply with his wife’s requests, or be prepared for a messy public expose of all the skeletons that are apparently waiting to tumble out of his cupboard.

While his legal team has put an embargo on Nawazuddin’s public voice, it can safely be said that Nawaz is not ready for a bitter legal battle ahead.

A source close the development reveals, “Nawaz wanted it all done amicably. He never wanted the differences between his wife and him to be made public. He wanted the divorce to be quiet and amicable. But it’s gone into the public domain.”

There will be a lot of muck-raking from both parties in the coming weeks and months. Nawaz who is grappling with a number of domestic problems simultaneously (besides his impending divorce, his niece has accused his brother of improper behaviour) would want his children to be spared the pain and suffering.

“Nawaz wants to start his life on a clean slate. But his two children will always be a part of that slate,” says the source.

However, Nawazuddin’s lawyer Adnan says that he had sent the defamation notice within 15 days of her filing for divorce. All her statements have been debunked by Nawazuddin’s lawyer who said that all the EMIs are still being paid by Nawaz and that he is paying for all the expenses of the kids. According to them, Aaliya has stated contrary facts to tip the scale in her favour hence the slander case.

Nawazuddin is currently staying in his hometown, Budhana while his kids are staying with Aaliya in Mumbai.
