Thor 4 Directed by Taika Waititi Has Been Pitched, Says Tessa Thompson

A Taika Waititi-directed Thor 4 has already been pitched, Tessa Thompson reveals. Jumping in on the MCU train via 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, the actress plays Valkyrie in the franchise – one of the last members of Odin’s elite Asgardian team who took on Hela (Cate Blanchett). The God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) stumbled across her on the junk planet of Sakaar, and cajoled her to join them and save Asgard from the Goddess of Death. The film ended with her aboard the Asgardian refugee ship on their way to Earth, but they were hijacked by Thanos and his men as seen at the start of Avengers: Infinity War.

Breathing life into the Thor franchise, Ragnarok quickly became the general viewing public’s favorite out of the trilogy. Unlike previous movies from the Marvel sub-franchise, gone were the dark and gloomy palette and in its place were the trippy backgrounds reminiscent of Jack Kirby’s psychedelic comic book panels. The aesthetic and new brand of humor perfectly complemented the roller coaster adventure for Thor. By the end of it, fans get an overhauled character and a revitalized film series. But with Ragnarok already the third in his franchise, there’s an assumption that there’s no more solo adventures for the character, although that may not be the case.

According to Thompson during a recent LA Times interview, a fourth Thor film has already been pitched at Marvel Studios. While the actress claims that she doesn’t know specifics about it, she adds that Ragnarok director, Waititi is said to be returning to helm the film. “I heard that a pitch has happened for [another “Thor” film]. I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika [Waititi, who directed ‘Ragnarok’] would come back,” she said.

Valkyrie’s whereabouts continue to be a mystery after skipping Infinity War, but after months of speculation, Avengers: Endgame character portraits and special emojis confirm her survival of Thanos’ decimation of half the life in the universe. The assumption now is she, alongside fan favorite characters Korg and Miek, escaped the refugee ship and possibly continued their voyage to Earth. Whether or not they landed on the planet is another conversation, but they’re expected to factor into the Phase 3 capper. Chances are that Thor will seek her out following their loss to the Mad Titan before he goes off to execute the fresh plan to take down the villain.

It’s curious if Marvel Studios will be willing to deviate from their three-film solo character adventures for Thor. Both Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America’s (Chris Evans) trilogies felt like it tied up their respective headlining hero’s arcs with many expecting their stories to end in Endgame. It’s quite different with Odinson, however. Between finally nailing the tone they want for the character and a potential future that doesn’t feel forced in the MCU, there’s still so much he can do in the franchise starting with Thor 4.

Avengers 4 Reshoots: Tom Holland Traveled to Atlanta Earlier This Week

Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) flew to Atlanta earlier this week, presumably to join the ongoing Avengers 4 reshoots. Starting last month, additional work for the Marvel Studios blockbuster has been going on for several weeks now, with some actors coming back to the set to finish their respective parts. The latest update from the set came from Chris Evans, who announced he had wrapped up with an emotional social media post.

Not much is known regarding the movie, especially since Marvel Studios has been actively trying to keep any kind of information about it tightly under wraps. The reshoots are mainly being done inside a sound stage, so no set photos have come out since the first batch last month. However, since news of actors coming and going in Atlanta tends to make its way online, fans at least know the characters (aside from those who survived Thanos’ snap) appearing in the film, like Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Pom Klementieff’s Mantis. The latest MCU cast member to apparently join the reshoots is Holland.

A Twitter user with the handle goldenclosetboy shared an image of Holland on a flight from Atlanta to New York on October 5, giving fans the impression that the actor was in town to participate in the ongoing reshoots for Avengers 4. Holland – who’s also in the middle of filming Spider-Man: Far From Home – had just come back in the U.S. to continue shooting the Phase 4 film, following months of production around Europe. And while Spider-Man: Homecoming filmed at Pinewood Atlanta back in 2016, its sequel isn’t scheduled to use the facility, further backing up the idea he was in town for Avengers 4. Check out the photo below.

It’s uncertain in what capacity the currently dead MCU heroes will be involved in Avengers 4. While Thanos claimed that the genocide would be random, Marvel Studios brilliantly picked out the original Avengers and several important supporting characters to survive the purge, giving them one last mission before some (or most of them) bid goodbye to the franchise. Heroes like Captain America and Black Widow who didn’t have much to do in Avengers: Infinity War are expected to play a pivotal part in the Phase 3 capper, and chances are that the focus of the film will be on the principal heroes.

Having said that, Avengers 4 is both the end to a 22-film arc, and the beginning of a new one, so fans can expect that there will be some sort of passing of the baton between the MCU’s old guard and new faces. Considering that Spider-Man is Iron Man’s protege – with Stark playing the role of Peter’s mentor since his introduction in Captain America: Civil War – a reunion between the two is a fitting way to end Iron Man’s arc should he die in the upcoming film, and a great setup for Peter’s future journey as a superhero.

Robert Downey Jr. Responds to Chris Evans’ Emotional Captain America Thank You Letter

Robert Downey Jr. has responded to Chris Evans’ Captain America thank you letter, in which the latter reflected on wrapping Avengers 4. The two actors are currently in Atlanta, where reshoots for the upcoming Marvel film are taking place. Besides Downey and Evans, other actors – including Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Paul Rudd and Scarlett Johansson, and Elizabeth Olsen and Pom Klementieff – have all been spotted on set. Reshoots began in September. According to Mark Ruffalo, these reshoots will “finish the movie,” rather than just fixing scenes or adding additional lines.

These last days on set are sure to be an emotional period for the cast. Many of them have been playing these characters since MCU Phase 1, and have worked together onscreen almost as long. The original Avengers are so close they even got matching tattoos. Saying goodbye at the end of filming is sure to be bittersweet, as for some, it’ll be for the last time. Evans posted a tweet commemorating his wrap on Avengers 4, and saying what an honor playing Steven Rogers had been. Of course, this caused the MCU fandom to break down as well, believing that this seals Cap’s Avengers 4 fate. Regardless of if the character lives or dies, the film will most likely be the end of the line for Evans, whose contract is up.

Robert Downey Jr. subsequently responded to Evans’ emotional tweet with one of his own. He posted: “We all know who the real sheriff in town is“, with an image of Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. Buzz is dressed in Iron Man armor, while Woody is decked out in red, white, and blue Captain America regalia. The poster reads, “To Infinity War and Beyond” a cute nod to both the Avengers: Infinity War title and the saying from the animated Pixar film. Check out the tweet and image below.

Update: Chris Evans has since responded to RDJ’s response. Check it out below.

Iron Man and Captain America have been mainstays of the MCU since 2008 and 2011, respectively. The actors have become as iconic as the characters they play, and oftentimes it’s hard to draw a line between the two. It’s almost impossible to imagine the movies without either of these characters, but it’s a reality Marvel fans are slowly realizing they’re going to have to face very soon.

Avengers 4 will mark both a beginning and an end of sorts. While it’s likely time to say goodbye to actors like Evans and Downey Jr., the next round of MCU movies will also usher in a new era of characters. Heroes like Captain Marvel, Shuri, Black Panther, and Valkyrie will step up to take the place of the fallen or retired. The future of Marvel Studios is in good hands.

Valkyrie Was Not Killed by Thanos’ Snap, Confirms Tessa Thompson

Tessa Thompson has taken to social media to confirm that Valkyrie survived Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War. According to the actress, Valkyrie is fine – and she’s “thriving.

The cliffhanger ending of Infinity War saw Thanos commit genocide on a galactic scale. The Mad Titan snapped his fingers, and half the life in the universe was erased from existence in a matter of moments. Horrified viewers watched as iconic heroes such as Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Star-Lord crumbled to dust before their eyes. Since then, Marvel has gradually revealed which secondary characters made it out of Infinity War alive. Angela Bassett confirmed that Ramonda and Shuri survived, Aunt May wasn’t dusted, and Thor’s roommate Daryl is still in the land of the living. The list of the lost includes both Lady Sif and Betty Ross, though.

Now, Tessa Thompson has confirmed that her character Valkyrie is numbered among the survivors. When one fan asked on Twitter whether or not Valkyrie had disintegrated, Thompson gave a simple reply, unequivocally shooting down the notion that the elite Asgardian warrior had died. Her reply can be seen below.

In truth, most viewers had already suspected Valkyrie was fine. She was one of the Asgardian refugees to escape Thanos’ wrath; although her fate wasn’t shown in Avengers: Infinity War, dialogue confirmed that Thanos had spared half of the Asgardians. Ironically enough, though, they’ll then have been struck by another disaster when Thanos snapped his fingers, and another half of the survivors faded away. But it seems Valkyrie wasn’t one of the countless billions killed by Thanos.

Valkyrie is set to play some sort of role in Avengers 4. Tessa Thompson was on set in Edinburgh back in May last year; more recently, she headed to Atlanta for a couple of days, coincidentally at the same time Chris Hemsworth was in the city as well. Marvel Studios is currently filming reshoots for next year’s Avengers epic, and it seems highly likely that’s why Thompson was around.

Valkyrie may have been one of the most popular characters in Thor: Ragnarok, but she was entirely absent from Infinity War. While this seems to be something of a stumble on Marvel’s part, it’s likely because of the logistical challenge of producing so many films at such a high speed. By the time Marvel realized how much of a hit they had with Valkyrie, it was far too late to adjust the script of Infinity War. Marvel had a similar issue with Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, whose role in the team-up film was surprisingly small given the success of his solo film. Hopefully these issues have been corrected for next year.

Men in Black Set Video Reveals Chris Hemsworth & Tessa Thompson in Costume

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are both suited up on the set of Sony’s Men in Black spinoff. The still-untitled film reunites the Thor: Ragnarok co-stars as they become MIB secret agents based in London, Agent H and Agent M. Emma Thompson will reprise her role as Agent O, while Liam Neeson takes on the role of head of the UK branch of the organization. The film will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rafe Spall.

Directed by Straight Outta Compton and Fate of the Furious helmer F Gary Gray, principal photography for the Men in Black spinoff began back in July. Plot specifics regarding the film are still being kept under wraps, but the narrative will see the pair involved in a murder mystery that will send them traveling around the globe.

Posted on Twitter by Jarrett Wieselman, the video features Hemsworth goofing off on the set, recording him and Thompson as they wait on the sidelines to start filming again. The clip, which was originally posted on the actor’s Instagram story, reveals their costumes in the upcoming movie. And while there’s really nothing surprising about them wearing the standard suit and tie combination, fans are nonetheless happy to see the video. Check it out below:

As seen in the clip, Hemsworth ditched his suit jacket, while Thompson is sporting the complete ensemble. One wonders if this is indicative of their characters’ personalities, with the former being laid back and goofy, while the latter is a no-nonsense agent who wants work done efficiently. As with every offshoot or revival that involves recasting the leads, fans of the original Men in Black series were understandably frustrated when it was revealed that Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith) wouldn’t be starring in this one. Still, it looks like Hemsworth and Thompson may be poised to try and create a similar dynamic.

As the two continue to film in the U.K. for Men in Black, it’s unclear if they’ll both be brought back to Atlanta for the Avengers 4 reshoots that began earlier this month. Hemsworth is expected to reprise his role as the God of Thunder in the still-untitled Marvel film, and most of his original Avengers pals are already back on set to finish the movie. While Valkyrie has yet to be confirmed to appear, she was previously spotted on the set of a Marvel project (initially believed to be Avengers: Infinity War) in Scotland. Since she didn’t make an appearance in Avengers 3, fans are convinced that she’ll re-emerge in Avengers 4, hopefully with fan-favorite alien duo Korg and Miek.

Men in Black Spinoff: Chris Hemsworth & Tessa Thompson Suit Up in New Set Photo

A new set photo from the untitled Men in Black spinoff has been released, featuring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. The upcoming film will be the fourth Men in Black movie to date, with the previous three films starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

It’s been six years since Men in Black 3 came out, and the fourth film’s production is finally picking up serious steam. After the release of the third film, Smith was unsure about Men in Black 4, and thought that three movies was enough for him. Later, it was revealed that Sony wanted to make a Men in Black and 21 Jump Street crossover. thanks to the Sony hack that leaked a lot of their upcoming plans. Many fans were puzzled as to how Sony was planning to bridge these two seemingly opposite series, but Sony eventually gave up on the idea, and moved forward with an MIB franchise spinoff. It was announced earlier this year that Chris Hemsworth would be leading the spinoff, along with his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson. With the film now in production, a new set photo of Thompson and Hemsworth has surfaced online.

Posted on Hemsworth’s Twitter account, the new set photo features himself and Thompson suited up in the classic white dress shirt and black tie. The photo doesn’t really reveal anything about the plot of the upcoming film, but it does show Hemsworth and Thompson in their costumes, with the crew setting up equipment in the background. Hemsworth also uses the hashtag “revengers4life” in reference to a popular joke from Ragnarok.

Little is known about the Men in Black spinoff’s plot, however, the cast has begun to fill out over the past several months. Even though Will Smith is unlikely to return to Men in Black, actors such as Liam Neeson and Rebecca Ferguson have been picked up for the spinoff. Emma Thompson will also be reprising her role of Agent O, and F. Gary Gray is also thought to be directing the film. The plot is also said to somehow revolve around London-based agents who, “become involved in a murder mystery that has them traveling the globe”.

With the Men in Black spinoff slated for a Summer 2019 release, the film is less than a year away. So far, there has only been a teaser poster and a few set photos of Hemsworth suited up, but more marketing material is sure to come out in the coming months. Hemsworth and Thompson played off each other well in the MCU, so hopefully their onscreen chemistry will successfully translate over to protecting the Earth from the worst scum of the universe.
