Tyler Cameron from The Bachelorette is honoring his late mother with a charity fundraiser. Andrea Hermann Cameron, 55, died February 29 from a brain aneurysm.
The Jupiter, Florida, real estate agent was beloved by many for her warm personality and charitable endeavors. Tyler told the Palm Beach Post that, “she was a mom to so many” in the Jupiter community. In the wake of Andrea’s sudden passing, Tyler and his brothers Austin and Ryan have created a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising the money needed to start a foundation in their mother’s honor. To date, more than 130 people have donated nearly half of the fundraiser’s $20,000 goal.
The family released a statement detailing the tribute: “We are developing a charitable foundation so that she can continue to impact others as she has always done; we feel this is the best way to continue her legacy of giving. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the GoFundMe account so we can begin our quest of serving others like she had her entire life.”
Andrea was first taken to the hospital on Feb. 27. As a result, Tyler was forced to cancel a group run that he was scheduled to host for Good Morning America. Although he gave very little detail about the cancellation, he appealed to well-wishers to pray for his mom and family. On the day of her death, Tyler posted a touching message on Instagram in remembrance of his mom. Support poured in – even from other members of Bachelor Nation – including a heartfelt message of condolence from The Bachelor season 23 winner Cassie Randolph: “I’m so so sorry. Truly breaks my heart. Sending love and prayers.” Fans might remember Andrea from her son Tyler’s hometown visit when Bachelorette Hannah Brown journeyed to meet her boyfriend’s family. During his season, it was revealed that Tyler’s father had endured some health-related issues, and had even fallen on hard times financially. The money issues were said to have contributed to the demise of Andrea’s marriage to Tyler’s dad. Thankfully, Tyler and his brothers have their dad and extended family members to rely on during this period of mourning.
Tyler has shown amazing grace during this tough grieving period. He has honored his mom’s legacy in a way that would surely make her proud. His kind words about her on Instagram, as well as his family’s desire to continue his mom’s caring actions through a charitable organization in her name are great examples of love. Andrea’s death at such a young age shows us that life is definitely fragile and each day isn’t promised to anyone. May she rest in peace, and may her legacy of kindness, compassion, and service live on through her soon-to-be established charity as well as her doting family.
